The older I get, the more I play video games...
...and my wife tells me I'm either getting more senile or the geek inside me has decided to come out of the closet.
Mind you, I'm into PC games and not into consoles. I just turned 35, and am a DINK (double-income/no kids). I have never been an avid video game player but for the last year or so, I've been so engrossed with some FPS games that just covers most of my evenings.
I do take care of myself and am in good shape (I do intensive yoga every morning). But once I get home to work, it's on to Call of Duty Multiplayer right away. Within the last few months, I've played Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Black Hawk Down, UT2003, NFS: Underground, Medal of Honor and all its expansions, GTA3 & Vice City. It's quite obvious that the trend here is that most of the games I have requires fragging, sniping, and going Rambo but it sure helps me after a hard day's work.
I have also noticed that few of my friends have also gotten into the video game bug (mostly consoles) and these are people who I never in a hundred years would imagine sitting in front of their TVs trying to outscore each other.
Do you find that as you get older, the more you immerse into video games or has it been the other way around?
Thanks!!!!

True for me, I'm 29. It's the updates to classic games that got me. Once I found out Metroid Prime was worthy of the name I was hooked. Then there was Capcom vs. SNK 2 for Xbox live. F-Zero, Zelda: The Wind Waker, Final Fantasy. I need a Dragon Warrior update then my old favs will be covered. Oh yeah, I didn't even mention GBA. Mario and Luigi are taking up all my free time now.

I'm 23 and I play less. I was never big into RPG's or anything, so I only play sports games (which I still do all the time) and multiplayer games. And since I live by myself, I only get to do that every so often when I can have some of the guys over.

Complete opposite for me. Third year in college, and was ALL over the videogame scene in high school. Now Yahoo! Gin does plenty for me and it's much cheaper (i.e. free). That means more money for beer, DVDs, beer and etc.

I buy more but play less. I remember being a kid and just wanting to own one or two games but not being able to afford them. I would spend my birthday money on one game and then just play it constantly. Now that I can afford games, I buy tons. However, I don't have the time or often the inclination to play them. It's a packrat mentality, I guess, or maybe just filling in the gaps in my childhood.

Change it from PC's to consoles ...
Now, instead of being 35 and being like this for the last year, be this way from age 16 to 41...
...and you have an idea of what I'm like

33 and playing a decent amount (for me) lately. I have 2 small kids so it is difficult, but gaming has been taking away sleeping time lately. I have a cube, GBA, and an xbox. The xbox is definitely taking up more time now. I've had it since early this year and played Halo a decent amount.
I picked up xbox live a couple of months ago, got hooked up on that with MechAssault, then a friend loaned me D&D Heroes which I finished off, then same friend just loaned me KOTOR (30+ hours in now and still several planets to go) and that has been slowly eating my life and sleeping time.
I've got Crimson Skies and Counter Strike sitting on the shelf waiting on my xbox and time to free up.
This is definitely the best time to be a gamer... my wife thinks I'm crazy.

At 31 I'm still playing as much as I ever did. I've been a pretty "hardcore" gamer since the days of the Atari (and arcades).
I think that over the past few years, video games have really gained mainstream acceptance (mostly due to sports games IMO). That's why we're seeing a new wave of people playing that you'd never expect.

I'm 33 and thanks to Online console gaming I play more than I used to. I don't have friends that come over so before I would just play single player stuff.

Just turned 40. Married and one daughter 4 years old. When they go to sleep, I game.
I honestly think I game more now then I ever did only because the games have gotten so much better with the new technology.
Online gaming is booming right now, I never had this many people to play VGs with.
A far cry from my days gaming on my Apple II and Commadore 64...
I'll be gaming till I'm dead and buried...

I'm 28, almost 29, married with no kids. I don't play as much as I used to and it really upsets me b/c there are soooo many games I want to play. I just don't have the time for it like I used to.

I'm 34, SIFK (Single Income Four Kids) and I also play more and more. It's GREAT being able to play games with my kids (which my dad never once did with me that I can recall on the old Telestar (pong) and Atari 2600). And for games that are not well suited for such youngsters, I play after they go to sleep.
It's great being able to buy the games I want, and I still like playing them, so why not?

I just turned 31 and while I still enjoy gaming I don't have the time like I used to have. I have a Wife and 3 kids that keep me occupied after I get home from work, until around 10'ish. After they're in bed is when I get to do my gaming, which can range from 1-2 hours p/night and some nights no gaming cause I'm giving the wife some time
.
Finally finished KoToR, for XBOX, and I bought it when it was released
. I would say, on an average, it takes me 4mos up to a year to complete an RPG....just depends on how long the game is. Not like back in High School when I could play FFII(FFIV Japan) multiple times and level all my guys to 99.
I tried to do online games....EQ sucked, Asheron's Call almost ended my marriage. I purchased DAoC(Dark Age of Camleot) back when it was released in 2001 and promised myself I would limit my online play to late evenings....it worked out 'ok' and I finally leveled my toon to 50 this past summer. Only took me a year and a half
. Purchased FFXI and found myself getting back into the same habbits from my Asheron's Call days. So I dropped it before things got out of control. I will stick with single player games from now on
.
Oh btw, I spend part of my day browsing the net and these boards cause I'm 'bored' here at work
