I just think it's cool that video games are mainstream enough now that they actually get this many commercials...
- Ratchet and Clank - The home video style with bizzaro weapons style was pretty memorable & amusing.
- GTA: Vice City - Cool commercial, great music - got me psyched about the game anyway; especially since it used a lot of "in-game" footage - unlike a lot of games.

The fullform (like 90 second) Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 is the best current one (they showed it before revolutions here), the short version is funny but not quite as funny. Also the Dreamcast launch ad was funny as hell.

Thanks for the memories, cheapskate.
You should have seen the commercials themselves. Imagine the words "Commodore VIC 20" being repeated over and over in Shatner's patented "Captain Kirk" style
Good times ...

no doubt, the best ever is the one for that off-road racing game for PS1 where the tv reporter guy is interviewing the rabid enviro-wacko who has chained himself between 2 trees in protest and then the bear shows up. CLASSIC. dont remember the title of the game, but its definitely my all time fav game commercial.

Best:
The N64 Super Smash Bros. one where all the characters are kicking the crap out of each other to a happy tune.
Ratchet and Clank home video style ones
"Hey, did you get the latest nintendo news letter? Whoa nice graphics, I wish I could get my hands on that game..."
I'll put in another vote for the full version of the Super Mario Advance 4 one, saw that before Revolutions and it got applause after it finished .
Worst:
The new Rainbow Six one with the little girl singing "my country 'tis of thee."
The N-Gage commercials

Metal Gear Solid, for part 1 and 2.
Part 1-
This will test, his skill, strength, stamania
*puts square block into square hole, jumps over pole 1-ft off the ground, pats head while rubbing belly"
"Sir, aren't these test kinda easy"
"Suicide mission"
Part 2-
Very angry Boss, looking for a certain employee whose suppose to give him a report.
Employee sneaks around office, wearing disguises, like a box.
End of commercial, boss find report on desk, sees employee outside the window, the ! pops up over the employees head complete with sound effects from the game.

What was the game...I think Battletanks. Where it started like a Snuggles commercial then a tank blasted through the house and started chasing the bear. That (banned) spot and its (banned) sequel spot always got a laugh from me and my brother.

I used to like the Crash Bandicoot commercials with the guy in the suit. They had some funny ones.

WORST:
Those nonsensical PS2 commercials that they play at the movies before the trailers start. Random scenes from some apocalyptic event flash up on the screen.... LIVE IN YOUR WORLD, PLAY IN OURS.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

There was a commercial for...I wanna say it was called...dammit, it was the hovercraft/bike racing game on the PS1 that you used the energy grapple to swing around corners.
Anyway, there's gameplay footage running, but one of the bikes has the blinker flashing. The bike stops, the rider gets off (which can't actually happen in the game) and he screams at the screen "Lady! What's with the blinker!?" And it cuts to a really old lady playing the game. Hi-larious.
Currently, the Rachet and Clank ones are the best. The gravity bomb is my favorite. I'm not sure anyone working on that commercial knew how much dust was going to fly into the air.

Best:
The Ratchet & Clank ones are hilarious... like where they turn the guy into the chicken. I also found "The Mark of Kri" pretty good, where the women's "beat up dummy" guy gets ticked then attacks them... "Mark your opponent, then own them..."
Grand Theft Autos... lots of in-game footage used.
That's all I can think of at the moment....
Worst:
Midnight Club Racing... they don't show a single second of gameplay footage.
