Keep in mind most gamers don't keep up in this stuff and didn't hear/see/read the cell announcement.
MS wants to keep people buying x-box's and will hold off showing the x-box 2 as long as possible as such. Plus no need to rush with Sony and Nintendo no launching their next consoles until 2006.

FYI, the hype around the cell architecure extends well beyond the PS3. In fact, the application of it in the PS3 is not what the recent hype is about any way. Related? Yes. But its not like Sony purpose of discussing the chip is soley to "...reveal the chip now because even if the console isn't out first..." It's just an added benefit to those nerds that stay on top of that stuff.
If anything, the recent hype is order to garner interest in the archetecture before the dual-core chips from Intel and AMD hit. There is a much larger cash stream there then game consoles.

That link definitely sounds like the successor to the PS2. Difficult to program for but with a lot of potential....
If they sell enough consoles, developers will make the effort though.....

Anyone get Game Informer? They have a story about a next gen Sega horror game for Xbox 2 and PS3 and PC. No mention of revolution. Would be interesting to see screenshots and details.

Wonder if the PS3, XB2 or the N21 are going to have HDMI output? That would be awesome! If these boxes are going to be HD.....video component can take you only so far.

Although HDMI would be nice, I don't see it happening. It's still far from the standard for HD cable/sat box outputs and TV inputs. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them had a DVI output.

WHAT IS NINTENDO V-POCKET?
Well, it's one of two trademarks recently registered by the Japanese giant, and it could also be... Cue rampant speculation inside
16:19 Patent and trademark filing is rapidly becoming the holy grail of videogame speculation. It was once all down to plucky games journalists strapping tape recorders to their nether regions, going out on the lash with PR and receiving plenty of alarming looks when they thrust their groins into everyone's faces. But sadly no more.
Anyway, Nintendo is the latest company to register trademarks that have ignited gossip - the trademarks in question are Nintendo V-Pocket and PCGP, which the Japanese giant reportedly registered in December 2004 and have just been revealed by the Japanese Patent Office.
In truth, we've no idea what products these trademarks represent, and a call to a Nintendo rep failed to shed any light whatsoever - "No comment", they said. But of course that doesn't stop all and sundry - including us - having a wild stab in the dark.
Nintendo V-Pocket. Could this be a private slice of the internet where you can store your virtual gum and rubber bands? Umm, probably not. Perhaps 'V' refers to video, and it's another name for the Play-Yan, hardware that you can plug into your DS or GBA to watch movies (and play MP3s). Or is it, as has been suggested, hardware to enhance Wi-Fi play on DS, possibly for internet-based gaming?
Maybe it's a device similar to old Dreamcast's memory cards, and you'll be able to plug it into Revolution, retrieve it to continue gaming on the move and then plug it back into the console and carry on where you left off after your brief excursion into the outside world. Sound plausible?
And PCGP? Well, we're almost stumped. 'PC' suggests some kind of connectivity to a personal computer, but whether this could be for DS, Revolution of a GBA 2... Who knows? Answers on a postcard to...
Well, we'll pass the baton over to you to continue the crazy speculation in the forums.
