First, the dream sequences from Max Payne were well....a pain(no pun intended).
Now as for Manhunt, upon completing it I have this opinion to share. The title is essentially splinter cell without the "coolness" of being a secret agent. It is addictive, but definitley challenging.
However, this game is not a purchase title. You can definitley beat it with a rental and once you are done there is very little incentive to play again....and by this time you are so tired with the gameplay you don't wanna revisit the title again.
Just my two cents.

They mean there are around 20 missions in all the levels combined. They average around 5 missions per level. I don't know where in the hell they got the idea that they take an hour each.

I have to give it up to the makers of this game for creating a story with this much atmosphere. It's like Assault On Precint 13 meets The Warriors meets The Running Man. The player feels that they are really taking part in a night of urban hell. Like being thrown into the middle of a run down city and forced to fight for your life. Little touches like the cold electronica soundtrack, blistered wallpaper on building walls, and the grainy quality of the picture give the game a dark edge. The plot will take you to many cool places. A scrapyard operated by skinheads , a nuthouse where the nuts are in control, and an abandoned shopping mall are the highlights. The violence is intense, graphic, and realistic. There's no shying away from showing just what a shotgun will do to a person's head at close range. The black comedy elements Rockstar is famous for provide a nice contrast to the violence the player must inflict upon others to survive. For instance, when the skinheads are hunting for you they regulary shout out slogans like " God bless white America! " Little moments like that provide some levity in all the darkness. Brian Cox as the voice of the villain is awesome. Every word out of his mouth has authority and weight because he's so good. It's worth playing just to hear him do his thing. Possibly my favorite game of the year.
