ok, i found the info:
http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/produ...roduct_id=2800

they're called ergo grips. a couple more comments:
1. i dropped the gb sp... and the handles helped absorb the impact
2. i got purple b/c that's all they had - but it looks like it comes in various colors

Do you mean buy the gold bundle and exchange it later without the game? No. Once you open it and take the game out, you can't exchange it. Oh, and it also comes with a coupon that you mail in for a free set of GBA SP headphones. Pretty cool deal. Look for it Green Friday (Black Friday).

Ok, I think you guys sold me on the SP. My friend seems to think it's a better deal too.

Another question...should I buy any "starter kits" to go with the SP? I see they're about $20 and have cases, headphones, etc. Also, what are the cables that connect to the Cube called? System link? Or is that the one that hooks from GBA to GBA?

God, I am such a GBA n00b

Another question for you, X. Are the lines at TRU on Black friday usually as bad as say Best Buy or Circuit City? I don't care what color the SP is, and I have to buy Mario Advance 4 anyhow, but I was wondering if I should just wait to buy the SP on Black Friday. My other option was to head to Best Buy, where I can save $20 right off the bat ($5 coupon+$15 Reward Zone certs) and get a $20 GC for spending $100. Plus, more points added to my Reward Zone account. I suppose Best Buy sounds like the better deal, but what do you think? Are there any other special features the gold bundle has?

Does the $20 GC for $100 work with hardware? It says video games and accessories, I didn't think it would work with a GBASP purchase though. If it does I'm going over there today.

Good question, it would be just like the secret police to say it excludes systems. I am going to try today, though. I will have over $100 anyway, so it shouldn't matter.

Our lines are pretty bad, but they usually aren't as bad as Best Buy's. Plus, the R-Zone should have lines that are separate from the main checkout lines, so that usually helps too. The way our store is set up, you CANNOT be in the R-Zone line (which is way shorter) unless you have R-Zone merchandise among your purchase. So no one will be jumping into the shorter line just because it's the shorter line. I don't know, you'll be getting the game for free ($30), and free headphones ($10-15), so it's a pretty good deal. Also, all TRU's should be opening at 5am this year, so that'll be an hour earlier than Best Buy, I believe. But I may be biased. Either way, I'll be there at 4:30 come Green Friday morning.

X

edit: sorry, forgot that you had another question - no, the only things special about the bundle are the color, the game, and the headphones coupon. Otherwise, it's the same stuff.

Thanks for the info, X.

BTW, the secret police turned me down. The deal was only good for games and accessories.

I just noticed Best Buy has a free GBA Players kit when you buy a SP this week. Since I bought mine a few days ago, do you think they'd let me take it back and get the kit, or am I out of luck? I haven't even played the SP, just opened it to make sure it worked.

GBA accessory kit deal - COMPUSA

I just stopped by COMPUSA and there's a two-day deal (Sunday, Nov. 23 - Monday, Nov. 24) for $61 mail-in-rebates for accessories. If you purchase a GBA SP then you get the following accessories free:

Starter kit (car adapter, two game cases, body armor, travel case)
Headphones and audio dangle
Magnifier
Grips
Soft case
Surge protector

If any of you are thinking about getting a new GBA, then you might want to stop by at take a look. The accessories are generic brand stuff, but you get a little more than the Best Buy kit, minus the speakers.

Hmm, just found out another game I got is cheaper this week. Looks like I'll have to go to Best Buy anyway. What exactly is their return policy?

I could answer but since I don't really know it wouldn't help much

At this point, someone could make something up and I'd be happy

Seriously though, I have to go to Best Buy for the price adjustment on the game I bought anyway, but I want to know if they'd just give me the starter kit or if I'd have to return the SP and rebuy it to get the kit.

I didn't want them to say "Since this is open, we'll have to charge you 15% restocking fee" or some crap that the secret police (Best Buy employees)like to do.

There shouldn't be a restocking fee and th GB. Since you're going anyway you may as well try.

Yeah, true. I just wanted to know if I'd have to take the SP with me or not.

My guess would be that since no one here is answering your question, they don't know. Why don't you call Best Buy and ask them, since they would be best qualified to know the answer?
