I'll decide in a few days whether to keep it or not.

My initial thoughts (keep in mind that I originally owned TW 2004 and got bored with it)...
1. I played for a couple of days on the Beginner setting just to get used to the controls. Now playing on Intermediate and can't imagine going to Advanced or whatever the highest setting is called.
2. Putting has been difficult so far. Though, I got better last night by using a much slower takeaway. Am I correct in assuming that each tick on the meter represents approximately 10 feet?
3. The swing is not nearly as forgiving as TW 2004. If you don't go straight back and through, you WILL hit a slice/hook. Making matters worse is the fact that the analog on my controller is slightly "askew," so it's time to replace it.
4. I'm REALLY happy that the songs in my soundtrack play all the way through. In TW 2004, a new song would start on every hole and new screen. So if you were playing a round in a tournament, you only heard about 30-45 seconds of each one. In Links, however, the songs pause in between holes/screens and finish to completion. Seems like a small thing, but it pleases me greatly.
5. I'm really looking forward to playing you guys online. My cable should be here this week and then I'll get on XBL. Should we post usernames here or is that covered in another thread?

Dig. I've been playing around on Beginner (with XBL) so far, and while it's exciting to have to birdie/eagle EVERY hole; I've been thinking about making the switch to online gaming on intermediate.

I am horrible at this game. It seems like every shot I take goes to the left, and out of bounds or into the hazard. I sucked ass at Tiger Woods 2004, and it appears I am worse at this. I am still playing on the rookie level, too.

All you do is just push it back then forward... Should automatically go straight. Play the club they give you, play without wind. Play offline for a few hours, play the tutorial a few times then get thru all the challenges.

Don't push it up and keep holding it up. That may force it left. I went through two days of hooking it before I realized I had developed this bad technique.
Straight back, straight up, release.
