I second:

Toejam and Earl
NHL 94 (Best hockey game ever)
Herzog Zwei(awesome game...although those who have been playing RTS games on the PC for a while seem to get frustrated because of it's simplicity...you have to treat it more like an arcade shoot-em up game and less of an RTS...and play 2-player mode...when both players are good you will have endless battles)

I always liked Kid Chameleon and...I think it was called Haunted?

You played as a ghost that could interact with the environment to scare people. I remember you could click on the toilet and make it fling shit all over the walls.

Man...good times.

RPG: Shining Force 1, 2, Phantasy Star 2-4, Beyond Oasis, and if you understand Japanese: Surging Aura [most beautiful 16 bit RPG ever]

Action: Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles, Streets of Rage 2-3, XMen 2 Clone Wars

Sports: NBA Jam, NHL 95, Madden 92

Other: Ecco 1, Ecco 2, Dynamite Heady, Gunstar Heroes, Kid Chameleon

Fighting: Samurai Showdown, Super Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2 or 3, Eternal Champions

And the anime games can be picked up $10 anywhere, with a converter of course: Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Mega Man Wily Wars

Of course, see Virtua Fighter 2, Sonic 3d Blast, and Virtua Racing to see the extent of the Genesis' graphics chip

Where exactly are you seeing these games for so cheap?
