Tony Hawk Underground Reviews?

Has anyone played Tony Hawk Underground? What do you think of it? I loved the last 2 and will probably get this one too unless there are bad reviews.

It's not out until Wed (I believe). But I haven't seen any advance reviews yet, either.

Wierd. It's apparently out today and no reviews in sight for what is supposed to be a high-profile title. I wonder if that means there are problems (a' la Tomb Raider AOD) or whether they were just polishing until the last minute?

9.2 for Xbox and GC due to lack of Online Play from IGN.

And I never stated otherwise, just that most people were looking forward to the console version.

Blah, I hate when the deduct points for lack of online play. They should just rate what is included IMO, and then recommend the PS2 version if the reader has that for online play.

Well, here's the thing : online play increases the game's "Lasting Appeal" (which it certainly does), and that figures into their magic formula for a final score, so I don't have a problem with it.

In addition, the PS2 is the only version that allows for face-mapping, which is the feature Neversoft is hammering home as the game''s great selling point. I think under the circumstances, the PS2 is clearly preferrable (as they stated) and should, therefore, be rated higher.

Good point, I guess I'm biased as I hate online gaming.

The PS2 should also get extra points for the controller, the dual shock is the best for the TH games IMO.

Then score the Xbox version higher for better sound, graphics, and frame rates. No matter though, I cant tell the difference between their 9.2 and 9.5, that is some verrrry precise reviewing.

I picked up the ps2 version this afternoon. I played for 2 hours. its pretty good. it's tony 4 with new levels and more moves. the whole off the board moves are tough to get used to, but the kids do it so well online. they'd grind one ledge, jump off the board, cross the street, then jump onto a ledge and start grinding again. it looks real good.

you can also perform 2 moves for each direction you press. if you hit -> and o, he'll do an indy grab. if you hit -> and o o, he'll do another grab. the flips just become double flips.

the stats evolution is great. you have to perform certain moves to get the better stats. to spin better, you have to do a 540 with a grab, 720 with a grab, or 900 with a grab. its like mini goals within the game. I spent a bit of time getting my players stats maxxed out already.

I've never played a ps2 tony hawk game before. I've only played on xbox. the ps2 has a lot of choppiness in the graphics. there's also moments when it just freezes and picks up again. it sucks. its the only one with online play though, and thats the only reason to pick it up if you have a choice. the xbox controller actually feels better. I'm used to the simplified buttons. I don't really need 2 shoulder buttons for the game.

I haven't played with create a move or the face picture thing yet, but it looks pretty simple. back to the game...

Can someone tell me what the 4 shoulder buttons control? Im trying to decide whether to go with the Xbox one for the custom soundtrack and smoother frames or Ps2 for the controller. I dont really care about online play for the Ps2.

Ive never understood why no one likes any of the games of this series past part 2. It just confuses me.

Lots of people don't like the change from the set of goals for a level to the more open story based later games. I didn't really like tony hawk 4 that much I traded it yesterday with a few other games when I got THUG. I haven't played it alot yet but I like it better then 4 so far. The story mode makes more sense this time around. I also like the added stuff where you can get off the board and climb stuff and drive cars and stuff. The only real problem with story mode is when you get stuck with goal that deals with one of the skills you aren't the best at. I know I know this makes you better all around but it's still a bit of a pain.

I think THPS2 fans were bitter when they added the revert and noobs/vert players were able to hit those amazingly high scores.

Those street skaters are bitter folks!

I also love how they always say such and such level in THPS2 is the best.

I was checking out the Tampa level in THUG and it is so well laid out for skating, I don't know how anything could compare.

I rate the games:

THPS3 (I'm in the minority)
THPS2x
THPS4

I'll leave out v1 because it is included in 2x and I'm still undecided on THUG but so far, I like it better than 4.

L1+R1 makes you get off the board or get on
L1 spins left
R1 spins right
R2 reverts
down down R1 makes you turn a quick 180 on the ground
L2 changes your stance. pressure, nollie or fakie

can someone explain pressure? is that like a hard flip?
