New leisure suit larry coming possibly

The December issue of Computer Games Magazine reveals that the biggest loser in gaming history, Leisure Suit Larry, will return in a brand new adventure entitled Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude. No additional info are available now, but expect more details soon. A big thanks to our friends at GameStar.hu

All I can say is wow.

The first Leisure Suit Larry was the the first PC game I ever played back our crappy Tandy computer. Had a buddy make a copy of the discs and write a cheat sheet for the little pop quiz they gave you at the start of the game.

I'm not into PC gaming anymore but I can guess this one won't be a resource hog and will run fine on my system. I went minimal on my current system since I never used my "pimped" out PC I used to have. I can't believe it but I want a PC game again.

The original Larry games were pretty much PG-13 fare. I hope they keep it racy, but not lame like the DOA volleyball game. I'd also love it if they kept the game 2-D, but I bet there's no way in hell that's going to happen.

that would be just fantastic if they did come out with a new one - Full Throttle got nixed though, so i won't hold my breath.

I dunno...without Al Lowe at the helm, I'm rather skeptical. But I'm glad Sierra is finally bringing back Larry - let's hope they know what they're doing.

Full Throttle sequel was canned for the benefit of all adventure gamers. It would have been a travesty and a slap in the face for anyone who liked the original. I'm glad LucasArts at least still has some sense.

Now, I'm hoping for a Gabriel Knight IV - yay!

I use to play that game. One of the first PC games I've ever played.

I have absolutely no faith in Larry(or Sierra) without Al Lowe. Interesting that they bit the hand that fed them only to resurrect the franchise a couple years later. I remember reading something from Al Lowe on the ousted Sierra employees site, where he declared that the Larry franchise was dead.

Oh - I know... I just mentioned it cuz they're both adventure games.

Grim- - what did you know about Full Throttle? Why would it have been so bad?

I'd love a new Space Quest game

I didn't know Al Lowe wasn't attached to this - that's not a good sign at all.

Could a new King's Quest be too far away? Are the Williams' still with the company?

I hope it's every bit as cheesy and immature as the old games--I'd buy it for sure. Not having Al Lowe onboard doesn't bode well.

As far as i know, there is no bad blood between Al Lowe and Sierra. Lowe even has an update on his webpage concerning the new game, and how he has offered his input if Sierra wants it. Regardless of Lowe, i'm looking forward to a new Larry game and hope its successful so we see the return of all the classic Sierra games... Space Quest, Kings Quest, Quest for Glory.

As for Full Throttle, Lucasarts wouldn't have canned it unless it wasn't up to snuff. Just like I trust Blizzard's decision to can something like Warcraft Adventures.

Very skeptical without Al Lowe's involvement, but hopefully it's true to the originals.

Saw no mention of Police Quest...that game, along with Space Quest and Kings' Quest and of course Leisure Suit Larry kept my IBM 286 at 100% CPU Utilization for years!!

I learned how to touch type by playing Police Quest 2 on our IBM PS/1 back in 90-91

I guess you aren't too old school, the first 3 were text based. I think the first Larry to be point and click was 5.

also, King's Quest 6, Space Quest 4, and Police quest 3 were the first point and clicks in their series.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I think King's Quest V was the first in the series without the text parser.

If Al Lowe isn't involved, then neither am I.

Text based? i swear i played lsl1 a while back and i had to point and click with a right click to pick the options to do
I know you could type in your own command but i'm pretty sure they had mouse controls

The remake featured a point and click interface.

I remember LSL1 being redone in VGA and point and click. That might be the version you played.

I hated the text parser interface. Took forever to do what you wanted.

I got tired of it, but the advantage of the text based was you didn't just click on every object until it allowed you to pick one up--it could get frustating, though, I have to admit.
