So when is it going to happen?

And what is an entertainment specialist? Is he the clerk in the video game area or is he higher in the company? Has he seen pricing information, etc?

Also stating that they can't price drop since they are losing money is like saying that Microsoft is not willing to pay for market share, which we know they are willing to do.

Xbox dropping?!? Impossible!

I put my complete faith in that industry expert, me007gold's entertainment specialist. He's never let us down before.

The "entertainment specialist" Me007gold referred to was later said to be "...incharge of the entertainmetn area sorat like that areas mananger...".

Was it foolish of me to question the validity of the info from such an unimpeachable source ?

Don't worry, Jtnguyen12. Your reputation is safe around here

Personally I like hearing what Me007gold has to say. I like the cut of his jib. There's a new Sheriff in town and his name is Me007gold. You hear that Johny N?

How can the game be free at the $149.99 price if the PS2/X-Box will be selling for $99.99? What's the time diff bet the 2 prices?

If the Xbox is really going to be $99.99 on Black Friday then I shall finally have one. I just love Black Friday, but I always end up buying stuff just for me! No Christmas shopping ever gets done that day.

I'll be trying for an Xbox too if they are indeed $99 on that Friday.

the new ps2s are progressive scan right, why would they upgradethe hardware and drop the price?

Just to confirm, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving right? And can anyone confirm if this is for all stores or just Target?

Yes, it's the day after thanksgiving.

No one can confirm anything yet, even the target report is just a rumor from a new member reporting what the electronics guy at his target said, in other words it could be true or it could be total BS.

I think the new ones are only coming in the online bundle set. I'm guessing that the $99 ones would be w/o the online adapter and could be a method of clearing that stock out even.

Black Friday ads should surface in the next week or two and I'm sure we can all plan accordingly

Actually, the ones in the online bundle currently, are NOT progressive scan.

I imagine, in the future, all newly manufactured PS2s will be progressive scan as it was a redesign so I doubt they'll bother making any more of the older model.

I'm not sure how you tell from the packaging whether it's the pregressive scan model or not, probably have to look at the serial number.

Found this on Overweight Billfold:

Yasha said: I bought our PS2 5 days ago at EB, whats the chances of us getting the 5000 series? Any way to check on the Console itself?

MNFRUGALSHOPPER said: If there is a yellow plus sign on lower left hand corner (on the box) it is new model

All of the PS2 consoles we sell have the yellow plus sign, if I'm not mistaken.

This would be too nice - but I'm highly doubting it'll happen.

I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not counting on it.

Where's me007gold when you need him?

"Press releases" generally get released to the press (go figure). Surely it would be on reliable news sources if there was a press release.

Maybe it's not a press release, but some sort of announcement to retailers? I'm not in retail, so I can only speculate how these things are communicated.
