Beyond Good and Evil
I just downloaded the demo for this over at fileplanet.
The first level seemed to be kinda cool, drive around on a hover craft blasting at some big creature.
The second level on the demo was a blast though. Toward the end of it theres this big chase sequence that is very cinematic but you are controlling the character the whole time.
The only thing that I felt dissapointed with was the controls, they were definetly lacking at times. But, luckily this is coming out on all platforms so hopefully it will control better on a console.
Anyone looking forward to this title?

I'm interested in this title too. I've seen a few of the movies and it looks cool. That sucks about the controls though, maybe they are still working on it? I guess I won't know for sure until the reviews start coming or until I play it myself. My PC isn't in any condition to play games so I can't play the demo but I'll probably get it for Gamecube if its good.

Is this the game where you're a reporter and have to take pictures and what not to expose some kind of conspiracy?
If so, it does sound intriguing and I'm anxious to see the reviews.
Could be something a little different in todays world of same old same old, copy what's popular, game design.

Yep thats the game Josh. It seems like a cool idea to associate it from alot of other platformer titles. I am also not sure how different all the missions are. In the demo theres the hovercraft and the 3rd person stealth missions, that would be cool if there are a few other types..

I tried to download the PC demo, but it won't work for me past the company logo screen. Oh well, if I do buy it, I'd want the PS2 version anyway. At this point, I'm not too sure about this game. It does look intriguing, but I just don't know.

Ok some really good news for this game.
Apparently they just released an updated demo that fixes ALOT of issues, including the whole camera/control issues and compatibility problems. I havent had a chance to get it yet, but I've great things about it! here is a link

I just played the new demo, and all I can say is wow! They improved over the last one tremendously. It also includes some parts of the world that you can explore, very cool stuff.

While It Lasts
If there is any real problem with Beyond Good & Evil, it's that the whole thing wraps up in about 10 to 12 hours. To some extent, given its grand themes, one might expect the game to stretch to epic length -- though to be fair, the story comes to a satisfying conclusion without feeling rushed or scattered. Perhaps a bigger part of the disappointment, though, is that, like a good novel finally finishing, the characters and story are so compelling that you won't want your time with them to end. That's a very good thing to be able to say about a game, regardless of its length.
Closing Comments
It's easy enough to tally up Beyond Good & Evil's accomplishments in game play, level design, and outright eye candy, and declare it a success. But there's something more here to which all of these technical and design accomplishments are only a means to and end.
You see, BG&E is one of those rare games that shines from all points with an unmistakable quality of intelligence and personality. It's in the sharp writing and excellent voice acting. It's in the constantly inventive yet believable world of Hyllis and in the story's intriguing twists and emotional impact. Or in little details, wonderfully presented: Pey'j and Jade leaping into an embrace after a big fight, or Jade's face registering pity and horror with the subtlest change of expression. It's one thing to create a game full of pretty graphics and big action; it's something else to give us a story worth caring about involving characters we believe in.
Ultimately, for all its similarities to Zelda, this is where Beyond Good & Evil finds its own ground. Not only does it avoid many of the frustrations of the games it draws from (and yes, that includes Zelda's flat story and tedious item-chasing), but it is pierced throughout with humor, intelligence, and humanity. While it's over a bit before you'd want it to be, Beyond Good & Evil tells its story with amazing pizzazz and polish. Even better, it's a story well worth telling.

Great game judging by the demo, but I will probably just rent it and beat it in a few days instead of spending $50 on it...

While the game's repetitive nature and short length take away from its overall impact, Beyond Good & Evil is a fantastic-looking game that tells its story well. It may be short enough to rent and complete in a day or two, but fans of action adventure games will find enough to love in the game's overall design to make it worth purchasing.

I'm curious, since when did 10 - 12 hours designate a "Short game"?
From what I recall.. non-RPGs have always been around or less than 10 hours long.... but it could just be me. heh heh.

HMMM sounds like a cool game I have no porb with it being 10 or 12 hours that is more then long enouth for a game to me. Man how come now everyone wants a games to be 100 hours long all the older games was short back in the day and nobody was crying back in the day. Now how long it takes to beat a game seems to really metter to people.
PS. I really like that music they play dring the ad the one that runs on G4.

I really enjoyed the PC demo and was planning on picking this one up at some point.
The length thing is an interesting issue. How long are some of the "best" games of all time? Not including RPGs, which are in a class by themselves. I can't imagine many of them are much longer than 10-15 hours.

I really don't have a problem with 10-12 hour games. I just have a problem paying $50 for them. That's why it's on my "buy it when it hits $20" list.
But it is kind of short for an adventure game. A lot of the reviews compared it to Zelda, so I figured it would be 20-25 hours.

Huh? What do you mean?
