Can The XBOX Read CDRWs?

I had no problems at all copying entire CDR's onto my HD. Mine was a newer Xbox; did they maybe do a software upgrade or something?

Xbox will read almost all CDRWs while almost all CDRs will not work.
I think I heard somewhere that they made Xboxes read only CDRWs in order to decrease the chance that people will copy pirated music onto their Xboxes. Often you will find illegal copies of CDs on CDRs, not CDRWs.

I've copied at least 10 CDR's onto my HD without a single problem. I don't understand the difference. All I know is that when it comes to electronics, I'm not that lucky.

It's all in the brand of the CD reader in your xbox. The samsung (Newer) dvd drives read the most formats. The older one's (Philips, Thompson) are a bit more picky.

I did a google search and found this reply in another forum:
"...if its phillps it will have a light bulb shape, if its a thomson it has a perfect U shape and if its samsung it will have 2 extra holes on the tray, one on each sides."
