Logitech customer support (RE: xbox wireless controller)

I bought a Logitech Xbox wireless controller last April. It worked great. There was no lag at all in the controller, even in feverish multiplayer matches of Halo. The controls were precise and the controller itself was very comfortable. The only downside was the d-pad, which functioned more like the regular Xbox controller instead of the more accurate S-controller.

Recently the controller's analog sticks were beginning to have a large dead zone. I was disappointed that only after a few months the $69 controller was already starting to wear out. It would make sneaking around in Splinter Cell and precise aiming in Halo very difficult. The controller comes with a 1 year warranty, so I decided to call Logitech.

After I calmly explained the problem to them, they decided to ship me a brand new controller without any hassle. I don't even have to ship them back my old controller or pay anything. Great customer service!

I love Logitech products. I also own:
-- Logitech Driving Force Wheel for PS2
-- Logitech wireless controller for PS2
-- Logitech Cordless MX Duo for PC

Very cool. I have a Logitech Wireless mouse and keyboard on my PC, and am very happy with them. I don't usually buy third-party accessories, but I admit this is very tempting.

I own 2 of the logitechs wireless controllers for x-box. I've had no problems with either one, aside from cordless phone interference if you own a 2.4ghtz phone.

On that note...

Would their be a problem with interference on other 2.4 GHZ devices such as my linksys router / wireless bridge to my xbox???

I'm not sure. My phone doesn't always interfere but when it does I can't control anything. I guess it may depend on how far the other 2.4 ghz device is from the controllers.

My question is can you use both at the same time for multiplayer? There is not channel switch like the wavebird. Is there some kind of code hardwired into the controller and the receiver making everyone they produce totally different?

According to the PDF on thier site you can have up to 8 connected to a single console and performance remains excellent for the XBOX.

Do you have the # you used for customer service? My buttons started sticking on my controller last week, didn't really think about calling them until I saw this thread.

There is no channel switch because the controller auto-negotiates channel switching. It is better than the Wavebird in this regard. Think of it as having an 8-way channel switch that is handled automatically by the internal circuitry.

When you buy this controller, you get a 1 yr warranty, which is unheard of for console controllers. Heck, you don't even get a 1 yr warranty for the console systems themselves. I called the number that is on the Logitech phone numbers sheet you got with your controller. It is also on their website: 702-269-3457. When you call them they will ask you for your controller's M/N, P/N, and S/N (all found on the lid of your battery compartment). Be sure to have those handy.

Also... this controller is only $49 at Best Buy this week. Regular price $69. With a $5 off coupon it's only $45 for a great wireless controller!

I'd love to try one of these, but their just too much. I can't justfy $50-60 for a third party wireless win Nintendo offers a first party wireless for $30-35.

MS and Sony need to get their act together and put out first party wireless controllers in the same price range as the Wavebird.

go figure, a discussion on xbox controllers and someone has to compare M$'s business plan to Nintendos. Anyway....

I am torn now, I really want a wireless and I am going to pick one up this week probably. As stated above, Best buy has the Logitech for $49.99. Can you use a gift card coupon on an item that is on sale? If so $45 is a great deal for such an expensive controller. How does it stack up to the Pelican?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....oryId=cat08127

That one is normally $39.99 and with the coupon you could get it for $35.

No one said anything about business plans. I was just saying I'd love a first party wireless controller option from Sony and MS as these third party ones are riduculously overpriced, and I've never found a third party controller I liked as well as the first party ones.

Yes. I used the $5 off coupon when Advance Wars 2 was on sale for $25 (regular price $30), and it was no problem.

If so $45 is a great deal for such an expensive controller. How does it stack up to the Pelican?
IGN is the only website I know that gives reliable reviews on gaming hardware.

They gave the Pelican Eclipse wireless the following scores:
8.5 Performance
7.0 Build Quality
8.5 Value
8.0 Features
8.3 Overall
http://gear.ign.com/articles/391/391251p1.html

They gave the Logitech wireless the following scores:
9.0 Performance
9.5 Build Quality
6.5 Value
8.0 Features
9.0 Overall
http://gear.ign.com/articles/380/380293p1.html

The only downside to the Logitech controller is a 6.5 in Value. But considering you can get it this week for $45, I don't see any reason not to get it. Also, I haven't tried the Pelican wireless for Xbox before, but I do own the Pelican wireless for Gamecube. The build quality of my Pelican is very cheap and the analog sticks have a huge dead zone compared to the Nintendo controllers. Also the rumble is extremely weak. I would expect the Pelican wireless for Xbox to be the same. The Logitech wireless for Xbox does not have these problems.

Went to Best Buy at Metro Center mall today to pick up the logitech. When I get there I see that the Pelican Eclipse is Actually only $29.99 so with the Best Buy gamer card coupon and tax I paid $27.xx out the door. I'll let you guys know how it is. I would have paid the $10 difference for the "brand" name and better reviews but when we are talking $20 you just gotta take a chance. I also didn't like design as much on the logitech. It looked bigger and shaped different to me. The Pelican has a 3 year warranty so I will see how well it does.

I had the Pelican Eclipse First (still have it) and I think it sort of has a slight delay and the buttons feel cheap IMHO. The cheap buttons really effected playing button pressure sensitive games like DOAXVB.

Figures 35 Day's later I find a Logitech Wireless Open Box at BB for $25 and like it alot more.

my first impressions are very good on this controller. I have played whacked and KOTOR so far and no problems at all. I don't understand what a cheap button feels like, the buttons are fine for me. They added the white and black buttons over the triggers, which is a nice feature. They work well but if you just tap it they do nothing. It does require you to press down on them. Overall, well worth the $27. I might go buy another tomorrow.

The buttons on the Pelicon have sort of a "loose" feel. The best example is like the old PC keyboard's vs newer "soft-key" keyboards. Kinda hard to describe. The Pelicon works well for it's price but I prefer overall feel and function of the Logitech.

The only keys that are not perfect for to me are the new white and black buttons above the trigger. If you simply tap them, they will not respond. You have to press the button to get it to work. Other than that, so far I am very impressed. Also comes with a 3 year warranty so it should be good.

Couple of my general thoughts:

- Not as comfy as the S controller, but better than the original
- No power switch, which is a good thing. No wasting batteries
- Analog thumbstick buttons are quite tight. Had to get used to them.
- No Live support
- 4 AA batteries, I assume the 2 extra are just for rumble.
- Price Twice as much as the Wavebird?
- Wavebird is still #1, but this controller is my default for Xbox when I'm not on Live (the once or twice I have used Live)

I assume Micharl Corvin is talking about the logitech. One of the things I noticed about the logitech was the different shape. I didn't like that look and didn't think it would be as comfy as the s controller. The pelican eclipse wireless is shaped like the s controller though.

I think the Logitec has a better feel than the S-Controller, just took a little getting used to. It is also the same shape as their PS2 wireless. So if you get used to one, you're used t both.
