Full Throttle sequel canned.

Here's the very brief press release from Lucasarts.

Color me disappointed. Well, at least the Sam & Max sequel is still coming out.

Odd, I liked the first one. The main character was kinda "serious sam"ish. What system was it for anyhow?

Can't say I'm too surprised. The first one was good, but I don't think it was popular enough to support a sequel this many years later. Also, it didn't look that great.

LucasArts has decided to stop production on Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels.
“We do not want to disappoint the many fans of Full Throttle,” says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts, “and hope everyone can understand how committed we are to delivering the best quality gaming experience that we possibly can.”

too late. this sucks.

I didnt even know Full Throttle was a popular game. Back in the day, I remember my friend giving to me because it would run on his PC, I had such a great time playing that game, it the first 3d game I ever played on the PC. When I read about the sequel, I was excited but something in the back of mind told me I would never get to play it. What a shame

Translation: The game we were working on blew goats, so we decided instead of putting out a pile of poo, we'll just scrap the project.

That's sucky... I wanted a sequel. I wasn't impressed with the direction they were going with it, but I was hopeful.

I rarely play PC games anymore being in college with little time and even less money.

This was one game I was planning on setting aside some time to play.

Perhaps they will bring out a new DOTT.

I am really disappointed. There are three Lucasarts adventure games that I think stand head and shoulders above the rest (and yes, I've played them all).
  • Full Throttle
  • Sam and Max Hit the Road
  • Grim Fandango

Here's hoping for a Grim Fandango sequel. It was really the best of the bunch.

I'll always have a place in my heart for Zak McKracken, the first Lucasarts adventure game I played. Monkey Island 1 and 2, and Day of the Tentacle also rock.

Thank god it was canned. Did anyone seriously think this "action adventure", which looks more like SMASHTV than Full Throttle, will actually be good?

Never saw any screens of it, but I am disappointed. I haven't bought a LucasArts game in a long, long time, but I was going to pick up this and the new Sam & Max.

The game looked to be action oriented. The previews seemed to stress the fighting and racing elements. Who needs another game that half-asses multiple types of gameplay?
