Finally bought an Xbox

I might be one of the rare ones on this but i found HALO to be kind of repetitive and lacking in variety.
only one kind of machine gun, pistol, rocket launcher and shotgun
The laser based weapons were similar too. I dont know didnt really get me thrilled. I was raised on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark for N64 so i more naturally liked Time Splitters 2. talk about VARIETY IN WEAPONS man theres TONS of diff kinds of weapons--thats what i like. The controls in TS2 is like Goldeneye/perfect dark and arent for everyone.
RTCW is pretty good so far i like the multiplayer on LIVE for this game the best as far as FPS games go.

For what it's worth I am NOT a big gamer, I buy maybe 2 games a year if that & they are usually Madden & Final Fantasy & went out & bought Xbox & KOTOR yesterday just b/c I played about 20 minutes of the game at a friends house. I am at work now & all I'm thinking about is getting home & playing the game the rest of the night.

Interesting. Sounds like KOTOR is a system seller.

Star Wars has a huge fanbase, and good Star Wars games are relatively few and far between (though the past couple years have been good with Rogue Leader, Jedi Knight II, KOTR and Rebel Strike this fall). Not to mention this is the first Star Wars RPG.

Just picked up Max Payne for $11 + tax, after PMing Target's $16 Platinum Hits pricing at Best Buy and then tacking on the $5 off Platinum Hits games Best Buy coupon from their current in store video game flyer/magazine.
Going to Game Crazy later to pick up Serious Sam.
Josh, so you might be joining the "dark side"? We'll be glad to have you
Next thing you know I might be adding a PS2 to the Cube and the X-Box ... well maybe things aren't getting that crazy yet

I'll be joining some time. I'm flat broke right now though.
I'm not too keen on shelling out $179 to play KOTR, Halo, PDO and Halo 2 (only x-box games I'm dying to play) when it comes out.
I'll probably wait for the next price drop, and hope some of those games are cheaper as well by then. I've got several games I need to finish on the PS2, GC and GBA now anyway.

Seems that way. It's definitely got me wanting one.

I am not a big Star Wars fan, but this game is sounding like it might be worth picking up.

The more I've been thinking about the box the less I want one. KOTOR/Halo/PDO are the only games I'd buy and I don't have the money for all of those right now. The whole online thing doesn't sell me either. GCN has a good Star Wars title this fall along with a bunch of other exclusive titles which Xbox doesn't. Maybe next year (Halo 2) I'll join the dark side. MTFBWY.

Another thing of note, for what it's worth to the people on the fence about KOTOR. Is that I really don't like Star Wars that much. I hate the last 2 movies, & I don't even own any of the originals. It's just an amazing game & if you are a SW fan there is something wrong if you don't have this game.

I bought it a few months ago and I've enjoyed it although I have had freezing issues with it and even though I have returned it for different copies it seems that the problem is widespread.

Also, do you know where the "03" and "05" batch numbers are physically located (i.e. on the disk)?

if you're going to "vote with your wallet" and still want to play certain games on competitors systems, thats the way to do it.
You might check a site like gametzdotcom, there are always lots of peeps there that have "system x" and want to get "system y" or games or $ or whatever. I make lots of trades there and their chat room is good too. Just an idea.
