Postal 2

Played the demo - it's limited to one map and it's also limited in time - you only get like 10 minutes to play around. I have to admit it's kinda cool... could've been better, but it's not bad. Graphics are okay - kinda playstation-ish. The game reminds me alot of Redneck Rampage. There's plenty of creativity exhibited here and the environment seems to be fairly vast. I don't think I'll be buying it for 50 bucks, but once it's around 15-20 I might pick it up.

How long did it take you to open up on people?

not long... they start you off in your yard and your dog is pretty annoying. Then someone else's dog starts going after you like you're the only person around and I had to kill him. Then some fat lady was just really ugly and she had to die. A cop killed me the first time and I didn't even get past the first house. I did play a few more times and one time I went and picked up some milk like I was supposed to - paid for it and everything. Then I went into a nightclub and saw a chick with a shaved head and a beard and I had to kill everyone... there's a shotgun behind the bar... *wink*

I also tried the demo, and I agree that it's the kind of game I might pick out of the bargain bin. I like the non-linear approach, and how there are multiple ways to solve problems. A bit like the GTA games albeit without the driving. The back rooms of the convenience store is hilarious (if a bit offensive).

I don't know why they limited the demo to 10 minutes. If you went the wrong way or did weird stuff during that time you could get the wrong impression of the game. They'd probably get more buyers if they opened it up a little and just offered the whole level up for play like Unreal 2.

How big is the demo, and do you need a super computer to run it? I had a few minutes of fun with the first game and would like to give it a try.

The game is pretty fun. the demo size I believe is like 170mb's and you really don't need a tricked out machine. if it could play stuff like Unreal, you'll be able to play it.

It's fun, but I wouldn't spend the money on it. doesn't seem worth it for such a high price.

I think the minimum requirements are 700mhz processor and 128mb ram and a Dx8 compatible video card with 32mb of ram.

I have it and it does get a little monotonous. I'm on Thursday I think and play a level a week or so. It's definitely pushing the limits though, if it were a larger game it would be getting panned left and right right now.

Advantage to being on a system that most people don't use for games.

huh? Could you explain this in more detail? Are you crapping on the game? Are you crapping on PC gaming in general? or are you crapping on console gaming?

I think he's saying that since PC gaming has a lower profile in the public eye, a title like Postal 2 can get away without the sort of scrutiny that accompanies a console release like Grand Theft Auto 3...but I've already mistakenly made one assumption today when trying to explain a BizRodian post, so this may mark #2.

You can change the length of the demo in the console. Not a hack, but they actually provided an option to modify that setting.

Wow. Seriously, wow.

They really should have released that DLC on April 1st.
