Half-Life 2 video

IGN has 20 minutes of Half-Life 2 gameplay. It's camcorder footage, but it's pretty decent. I'm sure it's Insider-only access, but I'll post the link. After watching the videos, all I can say is, Doom what? I'm still excited about Doom 3 and Halo 2, but I NEED Half-Life 2. It looks freakin amazing. So far, Half-Life 2 is IMO the best of show for this E3. I can't wait for this game.

IGN also has a insiders membership fee I'd rather not pay. So if you could link the files to straight downloads or a link for free downloads.. then it's best not to even bother hotlinking to a members only section of IGN.

I'm still having a hard time believing this is coming out in Sept.

okay here is a link to the movies 206 MB zip file. Not my host so don't know how long it will last, and may take some retries to connect. But once connected it was pretty quick.

After seeing this game in action, I am more excited about it than Doom 3.

Same here. I was going to build one now, but I'm holding off until this game now. What I really like is how alive and interactive their enivironments seem to be. They've also got some interesting weapons. I love it when he takes the "F" off the sign on the building and throws it at the monster. That is great.

Can't wait!

O.M.G. , I am truly floored.

HL2 was already on my list of most anticipated, but I've now placed it in the #1 spot over Halo 2.

As others have mentioned, it's time to upgrade the PC. Wow!!!! The amount of detail and object interactivity is incredible. No wonder it has been 5 years since the original HL.

Edit to add:

Ghym and Todd, thanks for sharing.

If i heard him right, the narrator said that these images were produced using a 9800 Pro.

By the time Sep/Oct roles around we'll probably have the option of the 9800 Pro A-I-W, and maybe even the 9900 series a little after that (1st quarter 04) ??

I just finished watching the whole demo. I'm ready to give HL2 game of the year right now, if the actual gameplay is anything as cool as that demo showed. I have an Athlon XP 1700+ with 256 megs of ram, but only a 32 meg GeForce 2. I'll certainly be upgrading to the 9700 Pro when HL2 comes out, and if I have to, I'll get a new CPU and MB and ram, though since I just got the stuff I have, I'd like to hold off. I'll definitely need a bigger monitor than the 6 year old 15" monitor I have now.

Wow HL2 looks amazing. I like how you can use that weapon to pick up a lot of random stuff.

Watch it again. First he throws the "F". Then he throws the "U". I thought that was pretty funny.

I am really looking forward to this game after seeing the footage. I'll be upgrading my graphics card for this game.

The most amazing thing is that there is no level section loading like in the original. I just couldn't get over the fact that it was all one huge level and seamless.

That was amazing, and I was glad to see that the game won't consist entirely of tunnels and sewers and derelict factories. That section with the car (buggy? someone clarify) looked great.

Comparing my first impression of Half-Life 2 to that of Halo 2, it looks like Halo 2 has even more impressive scripted events but I much prefer the storyline, the graphics and weapons of HL2. Also, it really seemed like Halo 2 was very linear because of the sheer number of those scripted events (for example, can you jump on any incoming spacecraft?). I like to have my interactivity and choices in a FPS.

Also, the way you can blow up structures and have them fall on top of your enemies was extremely cool The AI (especially when he blocks the door so the bad guy can't get in) seemed so good it would be scary. It looks like it would be a real challenge to play this game.
