...I spent hundreds of hours playing this game on my old Apple. Forgot all about it... I remember it being pretty tough. Of course, I was like 9...

IGN's doing a great job with these lists so far.

#040 - Deus Ex
#039 - Halo: Combat Evolved
#038 - Soul Calibur
#037 - Madden '96
#036 - Super Smash Bros. Melee
#035 - Thief II: The Metal Age
#034 - Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty
#033 - Wave Race 64
#032 - Half-Life
#031 - Gauntlet

Halo, Half-Life, Thief II, and Deus Ex. A lot of FPS games in this list. I thought Half-Life would be ranked much higher, but oh well.

PixyJunket 05-06-03 01:08 PM

I think as far as FPS goes, Quake 2 should be the highest on the list.

Jeremy517 05-06-03 01:23 PM

Ehh.

Oh well, just their opinion.

Trevor 05-06-03 01:41 PM

I never thought I'd say this, being convinced that the PC will always have the best FPSs, but I actually enjoyed Halo more than any FPS on the PC so far.

Dune II

Dune II (by Westwood Studio) gave birth to the real-time strategy (RTS) genre.

mwestep 05-06-03 10:03 PM

Oh man, I forgot about so many of the games they listed. I think this is one of the better lists I have seen in a long time. Kudos who mentioned quake 2. I played that game on and off for close to 4 years, that was an awesome game, and the only game I actually got really involved playing online. Pixyboi, I am up for a game if you are.

Actually 'Herzog Zwei' on the Sega Genesis was the first RTS game ever made. The RTS genre was born on a console system.

No, it's a vector graphics arcade game from 1983. It sounded sorta familiar, but I can't remember if I played it or not.
