Earthbound is back!!!!!!!!
Woohoo!! The greatest rpg of all time is going to be released along with the first one that was never released here. No word on a US release, but I sure hope so! Been waiting for it since they put Ness in Super Smash Bros. I regretted selling my copy long ago, it was one of the funniest and enjoyable rpgs i've ever played. Back then I got a used copy and didn't get the cards or something that came with it, what were those? Anyone else looking forward to this?

Yeah read about this earlier today, Earthbound is my favorite game of all time (SNES). This is a reason for me to buy the GBA I guess. . .
|
I remembered that a boxed copy of the game came with the official Nintendo guide. The guide probably had some post cards included.
|
The boxed version was pretty sweet! I've been waiting for either this title or the sequel for a long time. ;)
|
Sorry Outlaw, I'm going to have to put Mother/Earthbound in 2nd place okay? (Dragon Warrior is 1st)
BUT THIS IS GREAT NEWS!! Everything about this game was awesome, the art sytle, the setting, the gameplay!, and the ROCKING MUSIC!! |

Earthbound had some of the greatest humor ever seen in a videogame. I can't wait for the GBA version. I also wouldn't mind seeing a Gamecube sequel using the Zelda: TWW graphics engine.
|
I still have my original boxed up snes version (mint).
Anyone remember the 'scratch and sniff' stickers that came with it? :D -k ### |
here's a link with some screenshots if you guys are interested

I may be the only person on this planet who actually played through Earthbound and hated it. Sure, it was meant to be a kitchsy sci-fi rpg, but the battle system was dull and some of the gameplay conventions, while innovative, were rather flawed.
Worth playing now as a discount compilation, but it was shadowed by bigger and better games on the SNES (FFII and III, Lufia, etc.) |

I guess a US release is out of the question? :(
I would really die to play this again on the go. |

Originally posted by PixyJunket Did you read the thread at all? -ptth- anyways, i probably could have clarified the question more, but i've been up for way too long, and i forgot :o can't you read my mind? |
I like Earthbound but despite two efforts I haven't been able to play through the entire thing. Maybe this will let me.

No NA release date in site. edit: I'm crossing my fingers that the reason they're taking so long is because they're remaking Earthbound Zero (the 1st one that didn't come to the US) to be included with the game. it was included in the japanese GBA release but was the NES version. The game did well in japan, I don't know about here in the states though. I know I would buy it, and a lot of my friends would too. We loved the game :) |
Weren't they working on some sort of sequel on the N64?

Originally posted by PixyJunket Cancelled.. being restarted on GBA. Oh, well thats cool. I was hoping that maybe they were going to release it on the Cube instead. |

That sucks, I loved Earthbound. I just acquired another copy of it recently infact. It does suck rebuying all these old games I once had. I wont make that mistake again.
|
Man I feel your pain.. I've been on a kick trying to get back my SNES collection.. playing this stuff again is wonderful. I just got Pac-Man 2.. very innovative game, still very fun. Nothing, and I mean nothing will EVER beat the SNES RPG days. That is written law dagnabbit!!
|
I still have my SNES copy. A really cool and innovative RPG. Wonder if my scratch and sniff strategy guide still works.
|
Any new news on a possible US release for the Earthbound collection? It's been around a year since the Japanese release.

So will we be able to play this on the Revolution then?
|
Thanks for bumping a 2 year old thread for no apparent reason then to ask a question when we have numerous Revoltuon threads
|
I wonder if Mother 3 is still even coming out. The most recent news I could find is this article, dated 7-22-04, from RPGGamer:
Series writer Shigesato Itoi has revealed that Mother 3 is roughly 60 percent complete, and will be set for release in late 2005. This is the first word on the game since it was mentioned in a Japanese commercial for Mother 1+2. There is no word thus far on a North American release for the game, which was originally known as Earthbound 64. RPGamer will bring you more information on this title as it becomes available. |

If it helps I was reading Gamespot's mail section and someone asked what are the chances of this coming out here, and he said 0%. |

I, for one, was really looking forward to the nostalgia of Earthbound.... :( |
Unfortunately the only new appearance Ness will be making is going to be in Super Smash Bros. Revolution it seems.
but it's 99.9999999% likely you'll be able to play Earthbound on Revolution (it is a nintendo published game afterall), so that's pretty cool I guess. |
It's happening.
Brownie Brown. Nintendo DS. |
whaaaat!?! Whats happening? Earthbound or Mother 3? -eek-
