this camera thing is quite the issue it seems. it gets so hard to make a precise jump or see all your attackers. it's very disorienting. i sure hope the other GC games aren't as frustrating. But I am loving the game, however. Story, gameplay, if it wasn't for that damn camera.

Finished this over the weekend. It's the first time I've revisited it since the GameCube days and it mostly held up as well as I'd remembered it. My biggest gripe is the inverted horizontal axis. I haven't played a game with that inversion in ages. It took some work to mostly rewire my brain for it, though I would still occasionally shift the camera the wrong way. I also felt like the stick to aim was way too sensitive. When using the grappling hook/bow/hookshot, I had to really concentrate on barely moving the stick to aim things and even small nudges would result in more movement than I wanted. All in all, though, it's still a wonderful game. Here's hoping we get a lot more great classic GameCube games.

I had forgotten how grindy the triforce shards were. I still need about 300 more rupies to decipher the last chart.

I bet it is hard to go back to that camera control scheme. I don't remember it being an issue when I played it but I was probably more used to wonky cameras back then.
How is the original sailing component in the modern age?

It didn’t bother me at all. I feel like the intervening 20+ years of open world games have probably gotten gamers more used to checking boxes off a map than back then. I remember being a bit worn out by all the treasure map stuff on the GameCube, but didn’t really notice it here, though I notably did not go for 100%. I probably found around half the chests, explored all the islands at least once and ended up with 15 hearts and several thousand rupees.

You know what's also hard? Going back to normal controls after playing nothing but WW for 3-4 days. I play games with vertical inverted which means WW was backwards in all 4 directions for me.

the camera thing is really making this enjoyable experience thus far a little frustrating. I want to finish, but I don't know if I want to go back in.

Oh just suck it up and deal with it. All three of my sons played this game to death between the ages of 5 and 20 and never once complained about the camera. Heck, I've played the game through a few times and loved it so much - and the camera was no problem. The characters, the story, the gameplay, and the grinding took my mind off of it.

Yeah, this game doesn't have any need for precise movement or attacking like some other games would have. I end up swinging the camera a full 360 because I go in the wrong direction all the time. Doesn't result in my dying at all.
