Solid Rumor Update
Today, the official French NINTENDO MAGAZINE announces, in its latest publication (April), that this MGS is METAL GEAR SOLID 4, and it will be only for Nintendo GameCube! In addition, it suggested that MGS 1 or MGS 2 could be converted to GC before the release of MGS4. For the news, look at Puissance-Nintendo.com
Yes, it is strange to speak about MGS4, whereas MGS3 has not been announced yet. Well, we thought that it was a thoughtlessness of the magazine, who confused 3 and 4. But, the main information is here -- they have interviewed Miyamoto and now they say that a Metal Gear Solid game will be ONLY FOR GameCube.
Today, the magazine has confirmed to Puissance-Nintendo that they were really talking about Metal Gear Solid 4 (not 3) and they are sure of their information. So, no mistake, MGS 4 only for GameCube.

I was just at EB and they were talking about MGS4 being only for GCN. In their computer the have a butt load of Square titles to be released on the same day in November ie; Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy:Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics (why would they wait til Nov?). Does anyone have an idea on what the "secret" project Square is developing for GCN? I've heard it's a Chrono title but wouldn't another Mario RPG make more sense?

MGS3 should be easy to make. It's going to be 6 hours of CGI clips and 10 minutes of gameplay. MGS4 should be out the door soon after with only 5 minutes of gameplay and 10 hours of CGI.
