See Groucho? This is what Im talking about. People confuse hate with, "I dont understand why its popular." Im betting he hasnt evn played the Sims, yet he "hates" it. What kind of logic is that?

For all the praise it got, I never could get into Space Hulk.

I felt that Everquest was extremely boring.

I don't hate it, but I feel that Neverwinter Nights is overrated.

I own The Sims and yes, I have played it. It's just not as addicting as many claim it to be.

Does it really matter what he thinks about the game?

This thread is about highly rated games you "hate." Yeah, hate is a strong word, but there are games that people LOOOOOOOOOOOVE and I just go "whatever" after playing them. I don't understand why it's so bad to talk about them?

zero,

If the entire forum is filled with needless complaining and the like, then I can understand you being frustrated. However, this is one isolated thread in which people can discuss popular games they didn't like/hate/were indifferent about/whatever terminology people would like to use. There's no problem with its existence... if you want to discuss its worth anymore, please feel free to do it over e-mail to us, but if not, let's let the thread stay on topic. Thanks.

I hate[insert game title here]anything and I need to lighten up? No offense Groucho but I dont think you've kept up on current events have you? Threads like these, are not unlike those found in the Movie Talk, where people openly bash each other and everything. I just think energy wasted on posting about how much you HATE something is just useless. This thread will either get closed or deleted, so it really makes no difference anyway.

Feel free to have an opinion, just dont needlessly complain.

I find this post fascinating for 2 reasons.

1. At the same time I asked for people to post favorite games that were poorly rated. Hardly any responses. I am really curious about these since they tend to drop in price quickly and you can find some real gems

2. I am amazed at the number of games that I love that have shown up in peoples hate list.

Anyway keep em coming, it is good to vent.

Add the Tekken series to my list by the way. Too many combos and unnatural looking character designs.

Halo, MechAssault, Jet Set Radio Future (too much hype, I didn't even like it)

Super Smash Melee (I like N64's version much much much better)

3D Adventure Games and Mario games after SNES (I'll stick with 2d)

Final Fantasy Games (I hate rpgs)

No, it's a well-known fact that he has some kind of grudge against Sony. I think he dropped a Sony TV on his dog, and he hasn't been the same since.

But on topic, I just still think it's kind of weird to hate a game that you have never even played.

On games I hate that got good reviews....

Kingdom Hearts. Just had a really frustrating camera. Maybe hate is too strong a word. I don't know if I actually hate anything.

It's not supposed to be a realisitic racer, obviously (I mean come on.. Mario is driving around in a go-kart.. how can it be realistic). The fun part is 2-4 player battles.
Well, Mad Dash racing and a bunch of other party game racers like this exist... I've played them and felt the same way as I do about Mario Kart. I guess the genre doesn't really appeal to me then... I do like racing games alot though.

All I can say is wow... How in the HECK can you hate the Zelda franchise? I would like to see some reasons behind that one. A Link To The Past and The Ocarina Of Time are arguably two of the best games ever made, and it would seem that Wind Waker is going to follow right in those two's footsteps.
Well, for me it's the same reason I don't play Dungeons and Dragons and dress up like a wizard to wait in line to go see Lord of the Rings... (not that this describes the type of person who plays these games). Basically, I didn't like Zelda on the NES cuz it was really boring. I didn't like it on the SNES because the graphics still sucked and it was still boring. I didn't like it on the N64 because the graphics didn't do anything for me and neither did the subject matter. What little I have played of the new one has failed to impress me yet again. It reminds me alot of this terrible FPS game released by Disney for the PC themed around one of their recent movies. I don't know - I don't think it needs to be explained because some people like broccoli and some can't stand it. Some people don't like chocolate. Some people don't like ice cream. There's nothing to explain.

Now you're just baiting him. Who cares if he doesn't like sony or sony games or the PS2. Lots of people are very vocal around here about what consoles they like and dislike. I'm surprised this thread got so childish so quickly...
"what games do you dislike that got good reviews?"
"Oh - I guess this really popular one over here didn't do much for me"
"You're a stupid dummy head"
"Go suck on a lemon"

Someone mentioned fighters, and I completely forgot about how much I hate:
The entire Tekken series
The entire Virtua Fighter series

Love Smash Bros, Soul Calibur, Bloody Roar, Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom...there's just something about those 2 series above that just makes them not fun.

I love fighting games, but hate the ones that have 18-move combos that require memorization of patterns.

I'm not too surprised at all. The funny thing about it is, if you look at my post, right underneath where it says "Final Fantasy Sucks" it says "I love Gitaroo Man!".. which not only is a PS2 game, but a Sony released game.. so it's only proving that some people are less concerned with my opinion on the PS2/Sony than trying to stick up for thier precious widdle games. Of course replying "YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND FINAL FANTASY IS THE GREATEST THING EVER AND I'M GOING TO MARRY AERITH WHEN I GROW UP!!" is an instant ban, so they try to exploit the one rule specific to this section of the forum.

I think this is a great thread. However it's a dangerous thread, simply because some people can't handle the fact that somebody doesn't like "popular game of the week", and that's sad. I love Metroid and Zelda, yet I respect the fact that there are people that don't, and simply because they don't like Nintendo games does not mean they are blindly console bashing. If somebody has hated every Zelda game ever made, I think it's safe to assume they will hate the new one too, even if it's not released yet.. and no Virgina, that's not console bashing either.

Ginsu, there's a simple reason that this thread has many more posts than it's equally excellent sister thread.. and that's because it's a LOT easier to find popular games that you don't like than unpopular games you think are great. It's easy to hear everybody ooze over Grand Theft Auto 3, and you've no doubt been bombarded with commercials, you're curious and try it, and don't link it.. when you hear nothing but bad things about a game, and low reveiw scores, it's a lot harder to give that game a try to find out that you really like it..

I hate all RPGs. MGS2 just got way too cartoonish way too fast. I prefer the more down to earth Max Payne. What's the deal with the cult following of the Tenchu series? Controlling the characters in those games is like trying to drive a Mack truck through an obstacle course.

I HATE Socom, it's frustrating and crappy. I dont think anyone else mentioned it and my view won't be popular......but I don't care. It's just one person's opinion.

HALO-

Heard so much about the graphics, writing, gameplay, etc. And while pretty to look at, it lacks mucho in the imagination department. Give me No One Lives Forever anyday over this borefest.

All that is Tekken. I played. I yawned. I returned to the store. For some reason I couldn't get into it. Surprisingly enough Fighting games are my favorite Genre.
Super Mario Sunshine The little plumber did me wrong. I bought it all happy played for a few days, haven't been able to pick it up since.
Kingdom Hearts I just can't get far in this one. I have been forcing myself to play, waiting for it to get it 'good' Games should not be like that
Tony Hawk, Jermey bmx whatever, kelly surfer who? These games are fun for like 2 min. I'm not paying $50 bucks for 2 min. A gigolo would fit better in that catagory.
Halo yes i said it. and no I don't hate FPS. Own it, played it, still in house for one reason: roommate likes it. damn him!
Everquest, Asheron Call Don't understand the appeal of these titles. and Also don't understand the hatred between the two camps. They are one in the same from what I played.

I'm done for now. maybe i'll think of more later

if your gigolo only lasts 2 minutes for 50 bucks, you oughtta find a new gigolo and tell him to find a new line of work.
