Hey Gallant...what broadband option do you use around these parts? Qwest DSL or Cable Modem? Just wondering...
This is a game that would probably make me get broadband, LIVE and this game. Sure, I'd get my ass handed to me, but it would at least be fun

I would love to play a good online fighting game.
But that cable pulling crap is unbelievable! C'mon, fix that problem! I don't understand why it's so hard to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen. If your opponent FORFEITS (which is basically what is happening) why in the world WOULDN'T that count as a win for you?
I don't understand why this continues to be an issue.

Ahhh yes.....pullers are back in full effect! Back when the Xband network was around we dealt with the same problem...sore losers who would pull the connection if they lost...luckily, Xband came up with a way to detect who broke the connection and would forfeit the match to the winner
I got home last night around 12midnite central time and got everything set up and I STAYED ON TIL 5AM!!! I was HOOKED!! 95% of my matches were great! The other 5% had some lag but nothing to complain about. I stuck with P-Groove, and the timing of the parries is like SF3 2nd Impact.....meaning you parry earlier thus making it a bit easier. In the arcade version of CVS2 you have a VERY narrow window to parry an attack....I guess either the lag is whats making it easier, or capcom took this factor into consideration and gave a larger windows for parries. I haven't tried it without the headset yet, but I will tonight!
Those of you complaining about lag, all I have to say is keep trying til you get someone with a better connection, or have your connection checked out! My games were running PERFECT!!
My only serious complaint is the Xbox controller. IT SUCKS!!!! I lost alot of games due to the fact that I couldnt do my moves! So, I will be investing in an arcade controller very soon!
I like these Arcade Sticks shown here
Pricey, but well worth it so I hear

Not surprised by the lag problems. I'd be shocked if we ever get perfect, lag free, online fighting games with the current broadband infrastructure. It will probably take something a good bit faster than the current speed of broadband to get it perfect. And it has to be perfect for me to enjoy it because fighting games are 100% based on timing and any lag would kill my desire to play it.
It's a shame too, because fighting games are the one type of game I'd be interested in playing online. Matches are short, so quitting wouldn't be as big of a problem as in sports games that take 30 minutes or more to complete. Plus they're easier to pick up and play for a few minutes for the same reason.

It is their first try, so hopefully it will get better. Sounds like pulling the mic makes it much better so it's not all that bad. I bet if they rigged it so you could talk between games and not during games it would be much better.

Well, I finally got X-Box live to play the Capcom games online (no other live games have interested me thanks to my PC). I've only played 3 online matches, and the one I won, he pulled his frickin cable (lost two, went to practice in "training" for a bit, came back). It was fun kicking his Evil Ryu and Super Akuma's asses with Dan, though
. Nothing like finishing a match with Dan's super-puncy-kicky combo thing to make a man proud.
I'm "Oz Rosenberg" online if anyone wants to play.

I'll be on later tonight. I picked up the REFLEX stick from EB games for a sweet 16 bucks. Lets just hope it performs well enough to play. Right now, ANYTHING is better than using the S-Controller!

Thanks for the games
. I had my headset plugged in, but wasn't hearing anything. Might have been that I didn't plug it in when I originally connected.
Yeah, I pretty much suck right now. I've not played any of the Capcom fighting games since MvC2 on the dreamcast came out. I used to be good, I swear! And my infatuation with Dan is just that he's so fun to play with, and no one ever expects you to play with him!
Is there a way to find "friend's" games, or is it just a "look on the player list and hope someone is there" kind of thing?

Ahh, cartman, so *you're* Oz Rosenberg. I figured you were one of my Buffy acquaintances based on your name, heh. I accepted your invite...I'll look for ya!
You can join a friend's game from the friend list, although the ones I tried all had invites....not sure if that matters or not. In other words, if you specifically want to play with someone on your Friends list, Create a Match and then Invite a Friend. Worked for me.
And a follow-up to my previous few posts....I played against 5 or 6 strangers tonight and except for one short bout of slowdown, the games were smoooooth. Much better than last night. Although I will say that playing a normal non-Live game right afterwards can be a shocker...the game is noticeably faster. But again, it's nothing that can't be accustomed to.
It's definitely been a blast playing it online, although I did have one cable-puller who apparently didn't like that I trounced his first character and didn't feel like finishing. I was creamed 4 or 5 times tonight, one of the guys still on his first character, but I sucked it up and took my impending losses. Wish that was a shared response.

At some point I believe they'll get cable pulling right, it must be difficult though. It could be they really want to give people the benefit of the doubt, or they have difficulty detecting who initiated the cable pull. If the former is what's true then that's probably the main problem, if that's not the case, then yeah, just detect which side pulled the cable and slap them with a loss and the other guy with a nuetral. That way it punishes the offender and won't let someone exploit it by racking up free wins.

BTW: that's the beauty of a game like GR, where you get a bunch of guys involved, there's no rankings so no reason to quit if you get killed a lot, and games rarely get ended early. Also I have very little problem finding games as well, maybe 1 or 2 tries at the most. Tons of fun.

I want to set up a mame cab so I've been looking at the X Arcade anyhow I suppose I could get bot a PC and Xbox connector. If you guys still have the big old faithful original Xbox controller around, it's much better than the Controller S, I'm not saying it's the end all, but it's better.

I just picked up this game last nite after reading some good comments about it. I liked it alot. Played ~20 matches. Got my butt whooped 18 times. Only won twice.
Out of the 20+ matches, 2 lagged. It was noticable immediately at the character selection screen. Both times, I asked the other player if they want to continued. I quit out with agreement from the other player once, and continued to play the other time. The rest of the 18+ matches went without any hint of lag. It's like playing with an invisible player2.
Also have not ran into any cable pullers last nite. No smack talking either. Most people are either quiet or give compliments on good matches.
I tried both the standard controller and small controller. Neither was suitable for pulling the dragon punch moves. So I ordered an X-Arcade stick this morning. $150 for the 2 player version, free shipping. So we'll see how it goes after I receive the X-Arcade.
Put me in your friends list if you're looking for a non-puller. "S8 Spook" is my gamertag.

My new strategy.
Im currently ranked about 2800. Lately I've been going up against some pretty high ranked player. 234, 512,34(!), etc. Now, I know there's an almost 0 chance of me winning, so instead of fighting a futile battle, I throw a wrench into the works.
I pick all random characters. Set the cursor on the question mark and hit the button 3 times.
I still get my butt kicked, but it's fun using different characters, and it also screws with the opponents head a bit. All of a sudden they're playing against E.Honda and Eagle, and they have no idea what to expect.

By the way, do you know if the x-arcade works with the xbox live communicator?
