Anyone want to pick up some of the Gamecube & GBA ones for me? I don't have a Best Buy anywhere close to me. I'll pay for the guides and the shipping.

Bah...went to my local BB to pick up a few of those guides and someone ransacked the entire area of guides.
The only ones left were the normal price ones.

Ah well.

Anyone know what day of week they usually drop prices on guides? The Best Buy in my area had the guides at regular price on Friday but on Saturday they were $.01. Anyone else see the price drops happening before Saturday?

Picked up a couple of Metroid Fusions today (one for myself and one for a friend at work), and a Shinobi (with the poster attached, also for a friend).

Thanks for the heads up. Keep posting which ones you pick up...

Might have to hit another best buy and see if they have Mario Sunshine & Eternal Darkness books.

These should all be ringing up at a penny:

Blinx: The Time Sweeper
Shinobi
Tekken 4
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Onimusha 2
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
WWF: Shut Your Mouth
Wave Race
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
Metroid Fusion
Super Mario Sunshine
Virtua Fighter 4
Kelly Slater
Mat Hoffman
Resident Evil Zero

I'll see if I can't think of more.

I have noticed that if you purchase 4 or less guides, you will not get hit with the $0.01 tax

Thanks to this thread, I went to 2 nearby BBs and picked up...

Resident Evil Zero
Metroid Fusion
Starfox Adventures
Super Mario Sunshine
Shinobi
WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Medal of Honor: Allied Assult

The cashiers were generally suprised to find them so cheap. I would usually buy a couple of gamer GCs (for the $5 coupons) so that I'm not only paying pennies for these guides.

I got 5 guides. Thanks a lot for this thread! Spending 5 cents for so much stuff is way cool.

Some PC guides should be $.01 too.
A couple of the older everquest expansions and no one lives forever 2.
Checked morrowind but was normal price.

Do they have a price tag of .01 or do you have scan then to double check.

Most of the time the guides are still marked regular price but scan at the register for a penny.

It's not the wrong price, and I haven't had anyone question it; to the contrary, every clerk I've ecountered has been aware of the clearance. In addition, there are often pre-printed shelf tags in the strategy guide area, with specific guides named on the tags, marked .01.

Look, it's a matter of principle. I REFUSE to pay a 25% surcharge when I don't have to.

If you search back on this forum, someone explained that they usually pulp or send back all the old strategy guides anyway, and it's some kind of inventory control or something to sell them for a cent a piece instead.
