Do I need to buy a modem for Xbox live?
I want to try and use my free DSL connection I get with student housing. Does the Xbox have a modem or just a port where one gets plugged in? Before you flame me for asking this, I tried to find out on the Xbox website but it was pretty worthless.

depends on if you have computers that use your connection. You can plug the cable coming from the cable modem directly into your xbox and be good to go..
Or, you can do like I do, plug the cable from the cable modem into a router, and then run cables from the router to your pc(s) and xbox.

An connection you can plug an Ethernet cable into, natch.
