The biggest reason the Gameboy is such a success is because it is hugely popular with kids. Cell phones aren't going to appeal to kids, so they have no chance of threatening the Game Boy.

Plus it will be costly, and the games aren't as good currently (bassically Palm quality games).

Huh? I see kids walking around in the mall with cellphones all the time.

Do you mean like 5-12 year olds, or teenagers?

Teenagers have cell phones (though other than the rich brats, many will have trouble talking their parents into buying this phone/handheld gaming/digital camera thing due to it's cost).

But I don't see too many of the younger crowd with them, and the younger crowd is a big part of the success of the gameboy. I mean you can't go in the electronics dept. of wal-mart without a kid or two whining to their parents to buy them a new GB game. Plus the success of games like Pokemon demonstrate the power of the younger crowd.

It's the 'Trip Hawkins' of handhelds.

I believe to use the phone you have to use the headphone jack on that Nokia. Its a bad idea IMO. Who wants a phone that freaking big and bulky? The future of phones is smaller phones not Game Boy Advance size phones. The games are Palm OS quality or worse. I just don't see going to that much trouble to play Bejeweled and Solitaire.

The revival of Red Jade by Ericsson was a bogus story picked up by the mass media due to confusion of sorts. Ericsson said later that the system was vaporware.
