I know *exactly* how you feel. I have 1 Xbox game (Halo) and I've played Live for probably a grand total of an hour and a half. Yes, I've played a lot of rentals, borrowed games and played demos.

But I'm pretty optimistic about the next few months. I probably bought my Xbox too early, especially considering the bundle that's out now (I rented JSRF and liked it, just not enought to buy it). But with all of the titles that are going to be out around the holidays, I think I'm going to be dusting off my Xbox soon.

I'd be surprised if those of us who haven't been wowed by the Xbox don't feel differently in January. If the holiday releases turn out to be busts, I'll sell my Xbox. Until then, I'm waiting. C'mon Splinter Cell.

Best response yet! These kind of threads really crack me up. What did you folks argue about before video games. Board games?

Let's see... Milton Bradley or Parker Brothers? I can only afford one, so which one should I get? Milton Bradley has Scrabble, Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, and Parcheesi. Parker Brothers has Sorry, Clue, Monopoly, and Trivial Pursuit. Parker Brothers has some fun games but Milton Bradley has better graphics. It's too close to call, maybe I should get them both.

Oops, gotta run... I have to get back to my Candy Land deathmatch.

This is exactly my point. Everytime a future release is said to be promising, it hardly lives up to it. Take Blinx - supposed to be a revolutionary platformer, but it was reviewed as mediocre. Same with Quantum Redshift - all the hype about being developed by ex-Psygnosis members, and everyone said it's worth a rental at best.

When can we get a game that is actually as good as its promised? PS2 got Sly Cooper - that lived up to the hype!

XBOX games still have room to grow while PS2's power has pretty much been maxed out........

I love the X-Box. It's everything I want in a console. I am, however, unsatisfied with the catalog of games that are out right now. Of course, I based my purchase of an X-Box on the titles that will soon be out. It looks like in the near future the X-box will rule all.

I'm not underwhelmed at this point.... I've had this had this bad boy since Sunday though. I went ahead, spent the extra $30 to get the high def pack and an optical cable. No point is only using the system to 1/10 of it's power. I love the DD5.1, and so far the two free games I've been playing are pretty sweeet. I need to start renting more now, and finding those sweet deals to build my collection.

I do notice more sales on xbox games than games for my other console...the cube, which I am very happy with as well. Still holding out for Zelda.

Sad to say it, but I'm pretty underwhelmed as well. My Xbox just sits there gathering dust. It's never even been turned on!

Spoiler:
My wife won't let me play until Xmas.

If you don't like the box sell it and get something else. It's really that simple. No need to attack or defend any system. What was it that was said earlier... different strokes?

I for one am very happy with my choice of getting the xbox at launch for $299. And I'm currently having a great time playing the xbox exclusive "Buffy"
I agree. If you can not get the PS2 without selling the XBox then sell it. If you can and think some of the future games look good then hold on to it and buy the PS2.

Of course if you are getting a PS2 make sure you get in on the buy 2 get one free deal at amazon

Judging from what someone allegedly posted here though, that person definitely seemed like they went off the deep end.
And came to his senses and edited it out, all in the space of 2 minutes. There's no way he should be suspended for that.

Hardware power has little to with gameplay this generation.

That noted, I would still disagree, I think the PS2 has more in it, like the others.

Make sure to splurge on the extra cables to get the DD, if your wife lets you that is.

Totally Agreed, he saw his error and quickly changed his post, we all get mad sometimes, no need to pull out the moderators email add, phone #, address and the "Message Board Assault Victims" Hotline for this...

Every game you've mentioned is a second tier title. I for one never gave any of them a second thought. Weren't Mad Dash and Fusion Frenzy like $29.99 titles at release?

Agreed. I just posted the info so tha_dvd_man would know how to notify moderators of a bad post, and so he could still notify them if he was that offended by the orginal post.

I don't think posting something and deleting it warrants a suspention or anything either. Though notifying the mod will let them know to keep an eye on the guy and give them something to take into consideration if he posts something like that in the future and doesn't delete it.

Depends on his intentions. It could have been that he planned on editing it the whole time. Something we just don't know. IE, how do you post something about telling someone to swallow whatever and then "come to your senses". That's pretty intense in the first place, not borderline. If he would have been quoted with that before he edited, would that have made a difference?

My thoughts are like this, I bought an Xbox because I liked the idea of playing my games in DD 5.1 and that I can rip my own music to the system (something I always wanted to do with my PS2). Yes, I would like MS to get more 1st party and exclusive titles out. I love Halo, and am looking forward to Halo 2....

I like most of you, am a Multi-Console gamer, I don't like having one system and not being able to play the game I want because it's not out for my console. I still own and play my NES, and my Sega Genesis, and in those days there were no multi-plaform games.

I guess what I'm trying to say is do some research on what games you want to play and get the the system you decide on and stick with it.... or you could always go the multi-console and have more fun - Remember, it's only money....

For the record, I own and play:

NES
Super Nintendo
Genesis
Dreamcast
Gamecube
Playstation
Playstation 2
Xbox

I simply give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure he meant what he said at the time (maybe he lost his temper for some reason) but the fact that he deleted it very quicky shows that he's aware of the rules and respects them. So for now I say forget about it and hope that since he's aware of the rules, he censors himself prior to hitting submit next time.

That probably would have made a difference it what happened, as the mods would have seen it. However, if he had posted it, and delted it almost instantly, and someone still managed to quote him, I reccomend that the mods warn him and leave it at that, as, again, the fact that he deleted it shows that he knows the rules and that what he posted was wrong.

I see what you're saying Josh and I'll agree with all of it. Not suspended, but maybe a "talking to" would be in order.

If the "edited by" does show up though, it shows some time elapsed between posting it and editing it. If you are really quick about it, then it won't show edited by at all. I'll test it on this post.

edit 1

edit 2

edit 3

edit 4

edit 5

edit 6, wow I wonder what the time buffer allows before "edited by" is appended to the message?

edit 7, ok it finally caught up to me, the answer is about 2 minutes.

I was just going by the comments above that he deleted it a couple minutes after posting it. As long as he deleted it before the anyone complained about it (which was the case) it shows that he's at least aware that those kind of comments are against the rules, and decided to delete of his on volition.

But I agree that a "talking too" is in order, just to make sure he's fully aware of the rules and consequences.

At any rate, enough of this, lets get back on topic.

Fuzion Frenzy is actually damn good fun for 4 players particularly if they're not hardcore gamers. I've played it with a lot of people who wouldn't normally play games and they love how it's easy to pick up and play. One of the best party games over the last 12 months.

I was at the opposite end of the spectrum. I bought a PS2 in during the first year. Underwhelmed with the games, I sold it and bought an Xbox. Halo and a few other games had me in console bliss until the last couple of months. Then I and my son got a PS2 back in the house (Yu-Gi-Oh trade) and each get equal playing time and life couldn't be any better.

I would recomend you get another system, either PS2 or GC to go with your Xbox. You won't regret it.

Life is complete owning more than one console.

Whatever. I have been around this forum since the beginning of '99 and never said a negative word about anyone. I am very aware of the rules. I was attacked, so I responded. I thought about it for a minute and realized it wasn't appropriate or in my character, so I deleted it. Simple as that. This was a thread for "Opinions." I expressed mine and was attacked. Apparently everyone isn't allowed to have one. I realized it wasn't worth it and went to play some video games.

As for the "false advertising" I would say that is in the fine print and word of mouth. Last year(pre-release) all I heard about the X-Box was "It's in digital!," "It comes with the modem so you don't have to buy anything," and "It plays movies," with nary a word that all those features will run an extra $100. That is all I was saying.

done.

I'm underwhelmed with this thread.

In a short time, when Wreckless hits on PS2, it will be possible for someone to write the identical, 'I own Wreckless, NFL 2k3, and Crash Bandicoot, and I'm underwhelmed with the system.'

I'd hate to think that thread would exist for 75 replies, with just a handful questioning his purchasing decisions.
