Or take it back and go buy it at BestBuy and get their warranty.

I've had nothing but problems with mine, it tried to burn down my house, TWICE, it rang up $500 worth of 900 # charges on my last phone bill, it impregnated my girlfriend & to top it off it ate the last of the fritos. I'd stay away.

You give your phone # at your Best Buy? I never did. But all of their receipts are stored electronically. At my local BB I sign on the computer screen for all CC purchases. Even the cash purchases would be stored in the computer system.

Very true. For example, take the overheating problems I mentioned reading about with the Sony receiver I own. I bet most of the people who had them were:

I. Playing movies/music exceptionally loud for long periods of time.

II. Had other equipment stacked on top of it when most of the ventalatoin for the receiver is on top.
But of course you have no way of knowing this. It could just be that you got lucky. While it's true that reading reviews filled with complaints isn't representative of the entire population that owns said equipment, it's a no-brainer that if one receiver gets dozens of complaints and another gets 2 that the latter is likely the less problem prone device.

I agree, but don't don't forget units sold too.

I meant to say the ratio of complaints to good reviews as opposed to actual numbers, d'oh.
