Found this story today about Square teaming with NVIDIA to make FF XI. Wonder what are the chances of an X-BOX port?

Pretty sure this is solely for the PC version of FFXI which was announced not long after it was announced for the PS2.

No chance that Sony will let Square develop for other consoles, especially the Final Fantasy series. Not in a million years.

Oh, wait...

I think the reason Square will not release FF XI for X-Box is because the way Microsoft is going to run its network (including any FF XI servers), which breaks down to Microsoft wants complete control, while Sony has left everything up to the developers and publishers to do as they choose.

Square and Sony both announced that all FF games through 12 will be only the PS2 exclusively. After that, who knows.

According to EGM's gossip column, the real question is whether FF XI will even come out for PS2 in North America.

Actually, I don't. This is such old news, that I can't remember where it was posted. It might be in an old post, but besides that, I have no idea where that news story is.

Just wondering if they were so specific in that "up to XII" will be PS2 exclusive.

from another article I read somewhere, FFXI only has 120,000 subscribers in Japan so far and it came out in May (?).

Square is probably foaming at the mouth for the chance to pick up some Xbox customers ;p
