Okay - I couldn't get any online games to come up so I pushed the bots around for awhile... it's not bad. Alot like UT. I played the console version at E3 and it doesn't look like much has changed.

I was under the impression that Unreal Championship and UT2003 were going to be two distinct games.

Hmm... that may be - but they looked alot alike and the level I just played seemed like the same thing I played at E3. I could be wrong.

What are the recommended specs for this game? My computer isn't great, so I would like to know whether or not it will play it. Thanks in advance!

I think I read somewhere that you need a 600mhz PC with 64MB of ram and it uses Direct3D, so you should probably have a graphics card with at least 32mb of ram.

The net code on this game is funky - games load really quick, but then most of them seem pretty laggy. Hope they clean it up before release.

Holy crap - I'm good. I used to be good at UT and then I tried playing it again after playing CS alot and I got my ass handed to me - everyone was either some sort of expert or they were using cheats. I just didn't ever pick my game up after that - I just played a game of UT2k3 though were I completely dominated by a few hundred points over a full server. That's always fun. Bunch of n00bs... I've been doing surprisingly well actually - I thought I'd suck like I did the last time I played UT. This game is alot more like Quake 3 TA than the first UT was.

Trigger, I had the same experience as you. Basiclly Quake Background and very little UT, tried the demo and dominated the games. My guess is that since the demo just came out a few hours ago.. no Hacks have been around.

Yeah - I also played Day of Defeat tonight and got my ass handed to me cuz I suspect there were alot of cheaters... I even saw one dude go invisible as soon as I hit him and his invisible ass shot me. Plus I could tell there were alot of wallhack people. What happened to punkbuster?

Punk buster was hacked like a day or two after it was released.

Enjoyed the game of UT without all the hacks out there playing. I'm sure that enjoyment will be gone in the coming weeks.

I had never seen that site before, funny stuff

I gotta ask, how do you find games? I got choices News, Lan game, favorites, where do I go for online games? Bear in mind O had like 1 minute to look, but I couldn't find them.

I think you just have to pick your gametype (Deathmatch, CTF, etc.) and hit refresh. The types of games popped up on my menu after I tried to refresh the news section. I still haven't been able to play though, it says they're having some server issues and are trying to fix them as fast they can.

Yeah, I got them to come up, but it's slow, I went to take a shower before they popped up and by the time I tried to join, the server was full.

I have to say though, does the game look beautiful or what! It also plays great with just bots

I have a PIII 800mhz, 256MB of ram, but only a 16mb video card, do you guys think it would run on my comp? thanks in advance!

I have a PIII-450, 64mb Geforce2 and 512mb or ram, and with all details turned down/off and at 800x600 it runs really nicely.

Don't like it though.

Just feels like same old, same old. Might be better balanced and more polished and have better graphics compared to UT, but playing it, the gameplay feels exactly like UT, and a million other standard deathmatching FPS's I've played. Meh, I'll pass. R6 III is my next FPS purchase.

Well, I installed it and got my answer. A window popped up saying "your video card is not supported." oh well.

It seemed hella slow ... until I realized that there is a game-speed slider to pick up the pace in bot games. 147% seems about right ... instagib and low-grav are great, too.

Slow? Woah, I'm used to BF1942 and America's Army, both of which go at about 33% of the speed in UT... I join a large server and there is always so much people around that I was killing a teammate for each 2-3 enemy kills.

I don't know, maybe my tastes have changed, but I don't really like it.

If you feel brave, set the bots to godlike, instagib, deathmatch. All I can say the the godlike in this game makes the godlike in the other game look like 'novice' mode, if you can get them to miss you more than twice, you are my hero... basically you jump left, they get you, you jump right they get you, you stay still, they get you, you sit and cry, they get you, you spawn, they get you. I got 3 kills compared to 45 for the leader with everyone being over 30 (except me), it was inhuman... I mean they have ESP and know where you will be in advance.

UT2003 is not that great compared to UT. Slow gameplay, weired weapons that don't seem realistic (ie, lame sniper riffle).

Well, I always thought the sniper rifle was too overpowered. I used to always get accused of cheating with the rifle.
