Dead to Rights.. Anyone buying it? Any thoughts?

I know some people posted reviews about the game from EGM, but I am curious about other reviews and if anyone here has played it..

I think EGM gave it three different scores, all in the 6-8 range. OXM gave it an 8.5 I believe.

I am personally very much looking forward to this game, but not sure If I will buy it or rent it, as NFL 2k3 is coming out around the same time too.

It seems to be kind of a shallow beat em up? Or maybe having a little bit more meat, but still a beat em up? I loved Die Hard Arcade back in the day on Sega Saturn, and that got bad reviews in the gaming magazines too.

I also have noticed a decent amount of hype for this game.. At the gamestops by my house, they have giant stand ups for it, which is unusal to see for an Xbox game.

Anyways, post your thoughts.

Dead to Rights looks like a very cool game to me. If you watch "Extended Play" on TechTV they covered it a couple weeks back. "Make the stripper dance mini-game!" Hehe, but seriously i'm looking forward to this game. (btw, I LOVED Die Hard Arcade as well back in the day, Panzer Dragoon Zwei and that NEARLY made me buy the Sega Saturn, thank god I didn't)

Oh man, you should get one!

Sega Saturn is a great system if you get the right games.

Was just playing some Panzer Dragoon Saga and Sega Rally. Die Hard Arcade is always a fun romp.. Panzer 1 and Zwei are always fun.

Love Sonic Jam and Sonic R, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, CHristmas NiGHTS, etc etc.

I was really hyped from playing Dead to Rights from the last two E3s, but the EGM review does raise a couple interesting issues that could make me hold off rather than get it when it's released. The overuse of mini-games and flow are my concerns now.

Watching some movies of the game at Xbox.ign.com, and I might have to get this.

Am watching the "killin hoes" videos, and it looks awesome.

Shallow, probably.. Fun, yes... Good game to show friends, yes.

well, i started playing this game last night, and i must say, i'm really into it. i've never played max payne, so i don't really have anything to compare it to in that sense, but just going through the first level (basically a tutorial), there are a LOT of diferent 'moves' your character can pull off - seems like a lot to remember...

there are some parts that get annoying - gameplay stops and you have to hit certain buttons over and over at just the right time to make certain things happen (picking a lock, controlling a stripper's moves), but the gameplay itself great and really in-depth...

off to play some more..

I'll probably get it. I hate renting games. The one I want to rent is always out.

The main problem I have with the EGM review is that it's not of the final version.

The review has been out over a month now and I know it took at least a week more to finalize the review for print. IGN and Gamespot both mentioned that they hadn't received the final review copy early this month.

It seems like EGM rushed in a review of an unfinshed copy just to beat others even if the review isn't accurate.

Anyway, Gamespy reviewed DTR: They gave it a 82. http://www.gamespy.com/reviews/august02/dtrxbox/

I'm holding off. I'll at least rent it, but the mini-games don't seem appealing to me.

Thanks for the post Flay, I see that ya posted gamespot's score a little before I did in this topic, so I made another topic on accident hehe. Grrrr, am I the only one out there who *HATES* the IGN insider garbage? I already planned on getting DTR, and this 8.5 just encourages this even more. About buying used...is there any other way? Honestly. Even when I go looking online for used games, I can usually score a sealed game for around $35. I can't even remember the last game I dumped $49.99 on....I think it may have been Final Fantasy VII.

Man this game is flarking sweet. Aside from all the ridiculous boxing matches in the prison -- how come I hit for so much less than those thugs? -- the game has been a ton of fun so far.

Glad you are having fun with it - I rented it and thought it blew. I don't think I'll pick it up used even unless I can get it for like 12 bucks.

I took it back and got another game. Max Payne was much better IMO. Mini games get annoying, that was my major gripe

Actually that's one reason I'm kinda stuck in chapter 4 -- I keep killing all the guys in the alley, but then I run out of time before picking the lock so I have to do the whole thing over again.

Still a lot of fun, but yes, definitely frustrating.

Hi All,
I bought Dead to Rights, only played it for about 5 mins (I'm working on a memo right now, so I don't have the time to play). My boyfriend played it as well. He woke me up when the "strip joint" scene was one. I thought it was the funniest things.

I have played Max Payne, and the games seem similar, but then again, I'm a girl, and I like playing the girlie games.
