I suppose we agree to disagree on the genres.

Adventure games!?!?!? Get your console loving blind arse out of the thread, or get some info before stating something that is wrong.

The morrowind comment refers to complaints I've seen from high end users (who's computers piss all over the xbox - in theory) regarding the performance of the PC version.

Ok, so shooters. How about the old duke nukem? You know, before he went 3-d and all bad arse? you remember right? he was just a little sprite side scrolling through maps shooting aliens. Oh ok, you don't remember. there was more then I can remember of side scrolling shooter games.
Space invaders was on PC, and many other space shooters. hell you could find tons of them at your local CPU store on the discount software rack. after 10 years, they lose there copy rights and pretty much you can download a ton for free. beat that.
Also, I play all systems, Console and PC. so your not talking to someone who doesn't get hands on experience on only on thing.
For the party comment. You don't understand, thats one of the negatives about a console. You crowd around a tv and play Mario kart on a screen that is split up into even more screens. so your looking at some smaller screens to try to play these games. the thing with lan set ups is you can have the same feel as that, but have everyone enjoy there own space.
I played plenty of racing games at Lans, and they range. Worms world party is what I would consider a party game cause hell, it has the word PARTY right in the mother $%$#$ game.
it's a Party game. Try playing Pod racer on a lan. How about any shooter, cause hell, 007 games on N64 were fun, try it on PC. it's 10x's more fun because you have space to breath and your not looking at small squares on a tv. you have your own screen so no screen cheating can really take place.
as for the morrowind comment. You are kidding me. there is no way possible that Xbox can look better then PC simply because the hardware they are programing it to is outdated by the time the system comes out on the streets. thus, you would get a better performance on PC if you have a decently upkept machine
as for Adventure. How about Full throttle? Prince of Persa. the list can go on and on. PC has plenty to choose from. just a lot of you never ever even heard of the classicly good games.

There are practically no Adventure games on Consoles... I don't consider Zelda or Mario or Final Fantasy to be Adventure games either... Traditional Adventure games are a dying genre indeed, but there's at least a few that have come out in the last year and a few on the horizon as well for the PC.

why would you call call the original Prince of Persia a platform game. Admittedly haven't played the more recent one? it was on PC first.
I do play the other platforms regularly. PS2 at hand to play GTA III and so on, Xbox is one I get the least time on, but I get enough time on it. DC is my favored choice of the three because of the fighting games.
Have played at lans while drinking. it is a blast. the negative I mean in the Party games is the split screening. that can get annoying. the crowd depends on your friends.

In all fairness though, I don't think the smaller split screens is any more annoying than having to make room for, and set up, all the stuff for a lan party.
Plus, if you have a big TV, the split screens are pretty big and can even be as big as a PC monitor.
Plus, I've always thought split screen adds something to some games. Take Goldeneye for instance. You could look and see where everyone was. This kept someone from hiding in a good spot and sniping everyone, which ruins a death match real quick IMO.
I'm not saying consoles or PCs are better for party games, I'm just saying it depends on what the individual gamer prefers.

Sniping and camping is part of the game of hunting. Ask any PC gamer about screen hacking. people kill for that sort of cheat.
but yeah, the split screen does depend on your tv.
One thing for Chris, Hows this for a person who is on the PC side. I have all the sega systems (32x, sega cd, sega saturn) and still play with my Saturn very often. I get both sides of the table, I'm very much up to my Consoles as much as I am on PC. there are those who play both. but perfer one over the other.

All indications are that it will look like a slideshow. What are you basing this on?

With Goldeneye you could plant those mines, and then look at the other persons screen and set it off when they would pass by. So the spilt screen works for that.

Yeah...I don't like split screen multiplayer either. I mean it's fun, but I like multiplayer on the PC better. But, think of this...if you have some friends over the amount of games you could play multiplayer on a single PC pales in comparison to consoles. You usually have to have multiple PCs (LAN Party) for multiplayer goodness on the PC unless you like playing online. I don't like playing online. There are too many immature people playing online, and my friends aren't as tech savvy as I am regarding online gaming. Since most of my friends have an Xbox I'm hoping Xbox live will be good enough and easy enough for them to join. I think the system link is cool, but you have to have a TV for each console. The Xbox is not as heavy as my PC, but my TV is huge.

Ok, my defn of a party game is 2 things:
- Something you can invite your mates around after work to play and all they need to bring is a carton of beer.
- Something that is really easy to pick up and play even if the person isn't normally very good at games.
So obviously something like Counterstrike wouldn't fit my definition because firstly each person needs to bring their own PC and secondly it would be pretty tough for a newbie to dive right in.
Congratulations on your Saturness btw
. Although it goes both ways. You seem to keep hinting I'm obviously a newbie to PC gaming (the duke nukem comment for one) but I've been playing PC games solidly since about 88 or 89 with my first pc being 386sx with 2meg of ram (couldn't do much with that these days). My first games machine was a c64 in 85. Never could get into the Ataris. Hell one of my very fav rpgs of all time is still Ultima 4 (although the SMS version was better

And THATS what the developer is reccommending for D3. If a Ge4 4600 cant hit the optimal settings I think Ge3 owners are in for a major disappointment.
