I'm saying if there were one platform game someone should try it should be Mario. If they wanted more after that then they should check out the other games.
If you feel that way then why'd you lose your **** when I said Mario would be the best of the bunch?

Sorry, it sounded like what you were saying was Mario was for casual platformer fans and the other games would be better for the hardcore platform fans.

I think all three consoles have very nice fall lineups. Makes me happy to own all three, I tell you what.

I would tell someone to rent Mario if they had all three systems and only wanted one platform game. However, "best" is a relative term. I might want a platformer with cell shading and sneaking so Sly Copper is the best for me.

Also, I was more concerned with Star Fox which to me is not as exciting as the Sony platformers. You quickly labeled them both the best without any reason. Mario will always succeed no doubt, but there are some people who want something different or are just tired of Mario (I am not one of these people though, I gotta have the Mario) so that doesn't make SMS or Starfox the best platformer for them.

I personally think Starfox will be better than most of the PS2 games listed but I never said it was the best. I don't even know why it is being compared to platformers because it's more like Zelda than Mario anyway.

However, "best" is a relative term.
Best is not a relative term. When comparing games in this manner you have to go with the consensus. Most people will tell you Mario 64 is the best 3D platformer ever made. That doesn't mean you have to like it though.

The safe money's on Star Fox being better as well
I brought up Starfox because you asked me why I flipped out on you and it was because when you brought up SMS and Starfox. I was actually going to ask if you considered it a platformer but then decided not to. You said it was better then the Sony games, which is fine, that's your opinion. I was arguing that you don't know until you have played them.

Finally, I'm not going to debate definitions here. This isn't English Talk. You asked me something, I answered it. You don't agree, fine. Let's just agree to disagree.

I wasn't taking a shot at it, just stating my opinion. The X-box doesn't have as many games coming out that interest me as the GC and PS2 do. I'm not saying there aren't good games coming because games like Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue 2, Splinter Cell, etc. will all likely be very good games, the just aren't my cup of tea.

I've found it's best to stay out on conversations with certain people about upcoming Gamecube games.

It just saves a headache.

Mario will be better than either of the other 2 games. There's no point in arguing that. The safe money's on Star Fox being better as well, but I'm willing to listen to arguments to the contrary.
Heres an argument:

Sometimes anticipated games don't turn out to be as good as they are expected to be. Many people thought Luigi's Mansion would be one of those "best platform ever" type games, but it ended up just being a pretty decent game. Many thought Yoshi's story on n64 was gonna be another classic nintendo game, but it ended up being a very mediocre game.

Besides, Sly Cooper is being considered by many to be the most promising game on PS2 this fall. That says a lot.
