I'm saying if there were one platform game someone should try it should be Mario. If they wanted more after that then they should check out the other games.

Also, I was more concerned with Star Fox which to me is not as exciting as the Sony platformers. You quickly labeled them both the best without any reason. Mario will always succeed no doubt, but there are some people who want something different or are just tired of Mario (I am not one of these people though, I gotta have the Mario) so that doesn't make SMS or Starfox the best platformer for them.

I personally think Starfox will be better than most of the PS2 games listed but I never said it was the best. I don't even know why it is being compared to platformers because it's more like Zelda than Mario anyway.
Best is not a relative term. When comparing games in this manner you have to go with the consensus. Most people will tell you Mario 64 is the best 3D platformer ever made. That doesn't mean you have to like it though.
However, "best" is a relative term.

That's not on par with Nintendo's killer fall line-up IMO, but it's more impressive than the X-box's fall line-up IMO.

The safe money's on Star Fox being better as well
Finally, I'm not going to debate definitions here. This isn't English Talk. You asked me something, I answered it. You don't agree, fine. Let's just agree to disagree.

Mario will be better than either of the other 2 games. There's no point in arguing that. The safe money's on Star Fox being better as well, but I'm willing to listen to arguments to the contrary.
Sometimes anticipated games don't turn out to be as good as they are expected to be. Many people thought Luigi's Mansion would be one of those "best platform ever" type games, but it ended up just being a pretty decent game. Many thought Yoshi's story on n64 was gonna be another classic nintendo game, but it ended up being a very mediocre game.
Besides, Sly Cooper is being considered by many to be the most promising game on PS2 this fall. That says a lot.
