What is it like?

I tried Balders Gate and did not like it... Too complex and too slow. Also seemed very difficult.

I played Diablo, Diablo II, and some of the earlier Ultima games to completion...

I have tried reading the reviews but they don't rreally give a clear picture...

Is Isewind Dale more action oriented than Baulders Gate? Is it more forgiving?

How close is it to Diablo?

If you did not like Baldur's Gate, you won't like Icewind Dale. It uses the same engine as BG. The main difference is that there is less plot and more hack & slash (tougher monsters).

If you want something like Diablo, try Dungeon Siege.

Ice Wind Dale II is coming out soon - wait for that.

Got it... Beat it... Cool game, but a little too simplistic...

Just like fantasia said, Icewind Dale will play exactly like Baldur's Gate. So if you did not like BG, then Icewind Dale probably is not going to be your cup of tea.

yep I own both and I agree with what is being said. Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate are very similar in style so I doubt you will like it.
what other types of games do you like?

Give Arcanum a shot. Similar to Diablo play-wise, but almost as much depth to it (stuff you can do and character customization) as the Black Isle RPG's.
