New Sonic Title information... Thoughts?

Well the new Sonic information has been released.

Sonic Advance 2 (GBA):
Looks to be more colorful than the first for ease of seeing, and apparently still has Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, though no mention or sight of Amy anywhere. I guess they are also trying to bring the speed back, as Sonic Advance 1 was fast, but not fast enough for many.

Sonic Mega Collection (NGC):
Mega as in Megadrive, not "Super Fantastic Every Sonic Title!" While not bad, not great either. Has Sonic 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles, 3d Blast, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic Spinball.. Definately a good collection, but basically Sonic Jam with a few other 2nd rate Sonic games (though still fun.) Hopefully they give it the star treatment like in Sonic Jam with all the museums and what not.

No information on Sonic Adventure 1 remake, nor a new console Sonic such as Sonic Adventure 3. Maybe tomorrow?

Whatever the case, I am very excited for Sonic Advance 2, and hope they make a new one every year like this. I also like the Mega Collection and Adventure 1 remake ideas, but dont have a Gamecube to take advantage.. IF the next new Sonic console game is for Gamecube, I'll have to get it.

Does anyone know why this mega collection and the old sonic jam didn't include sonic cd? That was a great sonic game, and surely wasn't played by as many people. They should include that, I wonder what their reason is.

I don't know. I still have Sonic CD and it is one of my favorite Sonic games. I also think it was the game that introduced Amy. Maybe they wanted to do Megadrive games only and not the Mega CD? Wish they would have included it.

BTW, Sonic Jam sucked because of the slowdown. It never played properly on the Saturn. Hopefully with the power of the Game Cube the games will play flawlessly. I will definitley pick this up. The Dr Robotnick game is a Puyo Puyo type game and it and Sonic Spinball are a lot of fun to play.

All should be pretty cool. I hope they update the games in the Sonic Mega Collection. Otherwise, I'm afraid they'll just try to emulate the old systems, and the package could end up sucking like the Sega Smash Pack on the DC due to poor emulation.

Also, it's unlike the next new Sonic game will be called "Sonic Adventure 3." Rumors in EGM (usually right on) say the series will return to it's action/speed roots, and drop the exploring/gem collecting/ etc. of SA 1&2, and as a result the game will drop the "Adventure" moniker.

So much for "Mega Collection"... I'd still buy it if it ran smoothly though.

I'm betting they won't make the mistake of using an emulator this time. I'm sure Sonic Team is doing this collection and it will be done right and made for the Game Cube, not some Win CE quickee. I look forward to it, because the extra stuff on Sonic Jam was very cool and I can only imagine how much better it will be on the Game Cube.
