Most disappointing games ever
Well, this is a thread for most disappointing games ever..
lets not use this for flame wars, or flaming popular games on systems that you dont like..
lets go with games that you were dying for, couldnt wait to get, and then were disappointed with them when they showed up..
I'd have too many to list them all, from nintendo and sega alike...
(REal quick mention: Wasn't exactly looking forward to it, but I just rented Bruce Lee for Xbox, and it is the biggest turd of a videogame I have ever played.)
So here are some of mine:
Knuckles Chaotix (32X) - I am a huge fan of Sonic games, and was very excited for this game, as it would have the best graphics of any sonic game to do and also should of have the coolest levels I thought. Well the graphics were good for a Sonic game, but the game overall sucked.. I actually did enjoy it, but was very let down.
Ecco the Dolphin (DC/PS2) - I was anxiously awaiting Ecco for the Dreamcast for some time, and when I finally saw it had came out, I picked it up immediately at $50... that was a waste of $50 as the game turned out to be too hard and not fun enough to actually get through more than 3 or 4 levels.
Sega Rally 2 (DC) - The first one was one of my most played games for Sega Saturn, the second... I barely played it on my Dreamcast.. horrible frame rate issues and unremarkable tracks left me longing for the first Sega Rally.
Space Channel 5 (DC) - Believed the hype, found crap when I opened the game for the first time instead.
Sonic Shuffle (DC) - Basically the same thing as SC5.
Those are some of the biggest ones I have been let down with in recent memory... So far there hasnt been any for Xbox, but I see some % for let down on Toe Jam and Earl 3 and Panzer Dragoon Orta... hopefully those will live up to the hype..

NBA2K1 on the Dreamcast. I loved the first one, but NBA2K1 was full of glitches. Mainly poor collision detection. You'd run into invisible walls when trying to drive past someone. I don't mind it being tough to drive, but make the defender get in front of me for godsake.
Thankfull this is pretty much fixed on the GC version of NBA2K2, which I love.
Tony Hawk 3. Not really anything wrong with it, I just played the first 2 to death, and couldn't get into this one. The reviews made it sound like it was a big change, but it was just more of the same.

What was so bad about SOE for you? I heard it was like gta3?
Most disappointing for me:
Chrono Cross - This was of course sequel to one of the best games ever made, Chrono Trigger. Not only did it not live up to its predecessor, it wasn't even a good game.
FF8 - FF6 is probably my favorite RPG and FF7 was OK so I had high hopes the sequel would deliver a great game. Instead, I got one of the most boring games I've ever played. The characters sucked nuts too.

I'd have to say Agent Under Fire. I had it pre-ordered, all the previews were saying it was going to be better than goldeneye, the screen shots looked amazing - then it turned out to be the game that it was. I played through the whole game and was hoping it would get better, it never did

X-Men for the NES immediately comes to mind for me.
Also, really, to me, Stuntman was a HUGE disappointment. I rented it, and took it back the same day. I've never done that before. That game premise had a lot of potential, but there was no challenge to me. Just follow the director's commands as he yelled them out. And the load times were atrocious. Hopefully they'll get it right in the sequel. Of course, it's really hot right now. Maybe I'm the lone dissenter.

Here's some of my most disappointing games, in no particular order. Stunt Race FX (SNES), Chrono Trigger (SNES), Checkered Flag (Jaguar), John Madden Football (3DO), Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis), Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation), Extreme G3 (GameCube).
Of course, disappointing doesn't necessarily mean bad. Most of these games aren't horrible, they just fell far below my expectations.

Stuntman has gotten mixed reviews. In the newest EGM one of it got something like an 8.5, 6.0 and 4.5.
People that like doing stuff over and over until they get it perfect like, people that don't hate it.
I wouldn't even bother with it as doing stuff over and over is my number one pet peeve in video games, and long load times is a close second.

Also to mention, I was very disappointed with Perfect Dark.
It was hyped as a Bond killer, yet it wasn't, and Bond was still the much better multiplayer experience..
The frame rate was also horrible, being one of the worst I have ever experienced in a game to date.

I remember being thoroughly dissapointed with Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles 2: The Arcade Game for NES .... it just wasn't a good enough copy of the arcade.

YEs both games were made by the same people... But the people who develop games usually dont also perform the marketing functions..
Nintendo hyped Perfect Dark as being better than Bond, and the magazines promoted PD as being the "Bond Killer." Nintendo wanted PD to be better because they lost the Bond license and wanted people to like hte Perfect Dark story better.
All in all, PD was disappointing.
"I don't think it was hyped as a Bond killer. Both games were made by the same people."

"The Bouncer" from Squaresoft on PS2, It wasn't even a game, you just watched cut sceens untill the movie was over, ooh and you got to do some terible fighting for 5 min out of the hour it took to beat.
It looked so cool before it came out, I have never been so disapponted in anything before.
