PS2 DVD problems....

This is probably an old topic, but I am new to PS2. When I try to play DVDs on my PS2, th color fades in and out regardless of the movie that I play. The sound stays good the entire time, but the pic goes in and out. Sometimes the color fades all the way to the blue screen and back. I have the PS2 hooked up using the RCAs that it comes with, and I do not have any issues at all playing games. Is the DVD part of the PS2 defective?
Thanks!

Sounds like Macrovision (copy protection). Is the output routed through a VCR before it gets to your TV?

Unfortunately I do have to have it go through the VCR. My bedroom TV does not have the RCAs

That's your problem right there then... my brother has the same thing happening (it says in the PS2 manual that it might happen I think)

You can't watch DVD movies through a VCR with any DVD player (unless its got Macrovision removed somehow) because of Macrovision. You will have to get a RF modulator and hook up the PS2 to that and then run it into your TV. I know Wal-Mart and Target both sell them now.

I know what you mean, but for a 19" TV, I can deal.
