Has anyone played it on battlenet with a 56K modem?
I am waiting for my copy to come in next week and would like to know if it is feasible to play with a 56k Modem.

I am really struggling with this game. I love realtime stragegy, but the unit limits kill me. Don't get me wrong, I do play with more strategy than just acquiring a horde and then rushing, but I find that the unit limit forces me to keep all my units together, and when I go on offense, I have to leave my base undefended. No more 3 way diversions or separate melee, ranged, and flying armies.
My favorite race are the undead. I like to make 6 meat wagons, fill them with bodies, and then unload them right outside the enemy base. Then I tell my 6+ necromancers to start raising dead and then start the attack. The 30 or so skeletons keep my main guys alive the first two minutes so that I can either wipe them out, or at least use that time to have the meat wagons do some serious damage to the town.

Great multiplayer game, and BattleNet has really developed by leaps and bounds, but the single player campaigns bored me to tears.
IMO It's not as good as StarCraft (which is possibly the best game I've ever played), but is better than Diablo 2. Well worth the buy, as the 8 player free for alls are amazing fun.

Yes, very feasible. I have been very impressed with the speed of games on battlenet. Way better than any games I tried using Age of Empires online. They have done a great job on server speeds. Little to no lag.
I think the game is awesome. In my opinion the campaign has a much more interesting storyline than it has had before. Great variety in the strategies needed to win each one. For me the cinematics alone nearly make this worth buying. They really draw me into the game.

Anybody know how you can get your lag/ping in WCIII battlenet?
In StarCraft, they used to show it to you in terms of the number of bars. I don't see it in WCIII. Why did they remove it>?

My guess is that they removed it. Blizzard's previous game, Diablo 2, also don't have the bars listed in the channels. But it was still possible to check on pings and frame rate once you are in a game.

Anyone having huge slowdowns after playing a while? It seems to start once I save and then load another game in single player. My hard drive thrashes non stop from then on.
I am only just meeting the processor reqs, but the game runs fast before this happens on my GF3Ti200. I have 256MB of RAM. Does the game need more than this. It says it only needs 128 I think.

Bnet question-
If you play a "Custom Game", does that count towards your record? I played a few custom games and my record remained the same. Does you record only get updated from an anonymous matchmaking game?
