Ever think of how much time games waste?

Looking at the Unreal Tournament stats today ( http://ut.ngworldstats.com/ )... So far, the total player minutes for online games that are registered to keep track are 153,722,875,298,185,216. This is for one game, and probably only 1/2 the total time that people have played it. That is 2,562,047,921,486,420 hours of playtime.

Now, if people were paid $5.00 per hour to play this, that would equal over 10 quadrillion dollars! With that money we could pay off our national debt 2000 times.

Ultimately though, I don't think there is any way these numbers are accurate. To have this many minutes of play time, each and every person in this country would have to play for well over 2 million hours per year for the last 4 years straight.

Too bad no one has that kind of money to pay us to play. Oh well. Back to gaming.

I sometimes do think about how much time is wasted (not that I game a lot since I have 2 small kids), but then I think that if I only have so much time, I should be doing something I enjoy with at least some of it

If I was not wasting time playing games I would be wasting it doing something else. It is a leisure activity I do for myself.

How much money would be accumulated if we were not stuck in traffic twice each day?

If it weren't for these games, we would have to face reality more often...

I usually play games to waste time. I'm mean I play them because I enjoy them, but I still generally only play them when I don't have anything better to do.

Well, since I can't play games at work like a lot of people can I don't feel like I'm wasting any time. I put my 46 hours a week in at my job and the game playing is completely a leisure activity.

The only time I think time is wasted is if the game is bad. Then the only question is why am I wasting my time playing a sucky game when I could be playing a good one?
