Square and Nintendo talking?

This makes the 4th or 5th time I've heard Square express interest in making games for the Gamecube. The past few times Nintendo has refused, as they hold a huge grudge against Square. I figure they'll eventually relent though, but maybe not until their (nintendo) president steps down later this year. It simply doesn't make good business since not to let square make games for your console. They'd be taking away Sony's biggest exclusive developer.

I've always heard the other way around: Square didn't want to make games for Nintendo. At least this is a reliable source (bloomberg) that says something is happening between the two.

Here's another comment by Square's president on the GC from cube.ign.com It's nothing groundbreaking, but it is positive.
Square Comments on Cube
The company's president briefly comments on the ease of development for Nintendo's next-gen console.
January 14, 2002
In a Bloomberg news report released this morning, Square Co.'s president Yoichi Wada spoke briefly on how easy it is to develop for Nintendo's next-generation console. The executive's comments were vague, but interesting all the same. "The Nintendo Gamecube is more developer-friendly than the PlayStation 2," he said, plain and simple.
No mention was made in relation to Square's software plans for GameCube, if any, but the company's perception of the Nintendo system seems much more optimistic than it has been previously.
Probably this is still a non-news story, but face it -- you would be mad at us if we didn't at least report that Square made positive mention of Nintendo's next-generation console.

So it seems that developers are realizing what happens if one console dominates the market---it's about time. PLEASE bring the FF series multi-platform, and port all the old FF!!!!!

Final Fantasy X with no jaggies and blurred edges would be nice, but it would have to be multi disc on the Game Cube. However, I would be thrilled with FF I, II, and III getting released for Game Boy Advance. With the high cost of making Final Fantasy Games, Square may have no choice but go multisystem in the future.

I want FF6 and Secret of Mana on the GBA!!
That would rule!
And those Wonderswan remakes of FF1,2j,3j.
If they don't do that then I hope they release a Seiken Densetsu Chronicles with FFA, SoM, and SD3 on the PSX. That would also rule!
