Was Conker really that good?

I never got a chance to play it...and I didn;t hear much about it beyond it was crude. What kind of gameplay was it? Like Banjo-Kazooie? Or what?

If it was that good, then I guess I should try to at least play Conker's Other Bad Fur Day when it comes out.

Behind the crude humor was solid gameplay, and some great pop culture references.

What I liked about the game is that different environments had different gameplay as well. Some areas required puzzle solving, others shooting skills, and still others platforming abilities. The graphics and voices (yes...voices on the N64 fancy that) were great as well.

Aside from all the hilarious stuff it was also a fun game to play, and very chalenging I thought. Also the multiplayer was awesome.

I pretty much have grown tired of Platform games. I used to buy each and every Mario, Sonic, Rayman, etc. However, over recent years I've grown towards sports, action, and FPS genres.

Yet, Conker still ranks probably #3 of my all time favorite games. Why? Well, IMHO it's the perfect platform game. It's the perfect marriage or concept, gameplay, variety, and execution. The game isn't just simple hopping on platforms or bopping on enemy heads. Each level offers different gameplay elements and covers nearly every action genre. There's some survival horror, shooter elements, racing, puzzles, and the list goes on. In a sense Conker is the perfect platform game.

Not to mention the game's incredible sense of humor. No movie made me laugh as much as Conker. It's all these elements combined that make Conker such a great game. It's probably the reason that I've been spoiled for other platform games. I couldn't finish Sonic Adventure 2, and am not interested at all by Jak and Daxter. I will pick up Mario Sunshine only cause I thought Mario 64 was the pinnacle of platforming games at the time. With Conker, Rare took all that was great with the genre and removed the tedious aspects(item collecting, returning to old levels to open new parts) and threw in a totally uncompromised sense of humor and made a classic game.

Platformers are not my favorite genre, too many just devolve into collect ____ amount of ____. But Conker was a blast. Very clever.

I think Conkers was that good. It's the reason I bought a N64. It's also the only game I've ever bought for the N64. Conkers was well worth the money. You should be able to find it pretty cheap now. I saw it at Fry's for $20.

Conker was so sweet. The battle vs. The Great Mighty Poo had me laughing for days.
