Cube Owners: Satisfied?

To allt he people who have purchased GameCubes, I was wondering if you were as satisfied as I was.

My GameCube has been on , virtually every spare minute since I've gotten it, and the games are absolutely gorgeous.

I've never felt this satisifed directly after a system's launch..ever.

Super Smash Bros is my new all time favorite game.

I am a cube owner and I am 100% satisfied with every aspect of the hardware. I am also satisfied with the games I've purchased:

Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Super Monkey Ball
Pikmin

All are great games. I have only played one other game as a rental: Luigi's Mansion. Fun as a rental, but I would've been mad had I bought it due to the shortness of the game.

I'm pretty middle of the road right now.

Pikmin is pretty interesting, but its short. The water looks pretty good, but everything else just looked average.

Rogue leader was quite possibly the biggest disappointment of the year. The sound is tinny and hollow. The radar is completely useless. It isn't that visually stunning. It jsut a rehash of the old arcade games. Nothing new to see here.

Super Monkey Ball is nothing more than an interactive Dole advertisement. Addictive and fun at times, but lets call it what it really is. Am I the only one who takes perverse joy in hearing the monkeys scream when they fall off?

However, new RE games? New Conkers? sounds good to me.

Not impressed now....future looks brighter.

Well I only have Rogue and Madden...and I am happy. Madden has grown on me and I am eventually going to pick up Super Smash Brothers.

Good launch in my opinion.

Wow! You're the first person I have read that did not like Rogue Leader. Been so many great reviews on it. I just bought the game today since my gamecube is coming on Tuesday.

Well as my roommates will tell you, I'm pretty finicky.

I may be the only person on the planet that doesn't like it. I didn't find it to be the system selling title it's made out to be, for the reasons I listed.

People like it? More power to them. I thought it sucked.

When I got it at launch I was pretty satisfied with the games I got. When I picked up Super Smash Bros. Melee I became VERY satisfied with it!! This will keep me busy for awhile. I don't have the money to pick up Pikmin but it looks pretty cool and the reviews are good for it too. I'll try to rent it later.

Rogue Leader

Luigi's Mansion
Batman
Pikmin

VERY Satisfied The Game Cube is perfect for what I need. Many people complain that the games are too short; however, I don't have 70+ hours to play one game. Which works great with balancing work, college, and the gym.

Heads up for Eternal Darkness, StarFox and Zelda!

Very satisfied, it far exceeded my expectations. Rogue Leader is amazing. I cant believe that little box is able to handle all of that detail and action without any slowdown. I only have RL and SMB but since I completed Halo all Ive been playing is Rogue. The Starfighter XBox game still hasnt seen the inside of the system. Project Gothem and DOA3 have all but been abandoned.

The people who dont like Rogue seem to fall into two groups, the ones who say its too hard and the ones who were expecting a flight sim type PC-ish game like XWing Alliance. To that I just have to say its not a sim its pretty much a straight shooter. To those who think its too hard... umm... suck less.

I love my Gamecube so much that I bought an XBOX this week. :-) Seriously though, I do like the system and I am a fan of the Star Wars game so I bought it just for Rogue Squadron. I will be buying Mario Cart and Banjo Kazooi 3, when those come out too.

wow. i can't believe ppl actually liked Wave Race: Blue Storm. I thought that game was pitiful! Great graphics but horrible control...can't stand games w/ bad control. Rogue Squadron is great! However, I swear I played practically the exact same game on my computer a few years back.

I am extremely satisfied. The amount of great and unique games is amazing.

I own:
Luigi (great atmosphere, lots of little details, very unique)
Rogue (absoultely gorgeous, controls like a dream, lots of secrets)
Wave Race (perfect in every way, very intense)
Madden (very nice, makes me regret the time I spent with the NFL2k series)
Monkey Ball (terrific multiplayer, easy enough for anyone to play and compete)
THPS 3 (tons of fun, way better than the first 2 incarnations)
Pikmin (first good console RTS, great control, impossible to stop playing, amazing graphics)
Smash Bros. (perfect, ultimate multiplayer game, single player mode warrants a lot of play too)

God bless Nintendo.

dkva: What are you talking about? Are you just mad because Wave Race: Blue Storm doesn't use the same control setup as the N64 version? Maybe you need to give the game another chance -- the learning curve is incredibly steep.

I disagree. The control on the game is fine. These are jet skis, so you can't expect the tight control of Mario Cart. As Kellehair points out, there is a learning curve to this game. When I first played it on a kiosk I was crashing into everything and getting frustrated...regretting that I'd already pre-ordered the game. Then, when it arrived at my home I gave it another try. Once I got the controls down (it took a while), I fell in love with the game.

One tip I have is to start with the characters that are marked "Beginner" as they are much easier to control, and then work your way up.

Extremely. I will still have to get a PS2 next year, but for now I have plenty to keep me busy.

Luigi's Mansion - Very fun. Yes, it was short but I enjoyed playing it through twice already.

Tony Hawk 3 - I've been playing this daily for about two weeks. One of the biggest reasons I prefer the Gamecube to the Xbox which for some reason got 2X.

Smash Brothers Melee - One of the best fighting games I have ever played. Great for multiplayer.

Wave Race Blue Storm - It does not have horible control at all. The Jetskis take a few times through to get the control down, but once you do this is a great racing game with beautiful water effects.

I'm still looking forward to playing Pikmin and I will be buying Eternal Darkness next year.

I'm super satisfied. I've been playing it all the time. I have Rogue Leader, Wave Race, Tony Hawk 3 and Madden and love them all. This is the first console launch that I've ever wanted more than 1 of the Launch titles. Super NES just had Super Mario World, Playstation had nothing, N64 only had Mario 64, Dreamcast only had Soul Calibur, PS2 had nothing, and X-box has Halo. So for me, it's the best launch line-up ever. I'm expecting Super Monkey Ball and Smash Bros. for X-mas.

Anyway, I'm having tons of fun with it, and was thrilled that it was $100 less than the competition. I don't care about playing dvd's as I already have a dvd player, I'd only use the hard drive for saving games, and I'd never use the modem because I hate online gaming. In otherwords the GC was just the perfect fit for me.

I'm also extremely pleased with mine. I have Smash Brothers, Rogue Leader, Wave Race, and Tony Hawk 3 ---- and just waiting for amzon to ship my damn_ssx tricky and everything will be good. My only complaint though is a slightly odd one. There is nothing else coming out for it that i'm really looking forward to till like march of 2002. Which at first kind of bummed me out till i realized it will be march 2002 before i have even begun to fully unlock everything on tony hawk and smash brothers (let alone rogue leader which i think is a bloody hard game).

So overall i am loving my GC - now if i could only play GTA3 on it everything would be complete. Well that and the new Jet Grind Radio would not be an xbox exclusive everything would be perfect.

The lull kind of sucks, but there is still the Game Boy Advance. I've got to get Breath of Fire.

I'm pretty much done with Tony Hawk 3, Luigi's Mansion, and Smash Brothers. Though I will pick them up and play them again from time to time. I need to play Pikmin still, but I still have sports games on the Dreamcast and the Game Boy Advance to occupy my time until Eternal Darkness is released.
