Problems with XBOX locking up

Is anyone else having problems with their Xbox locking up?

Mine has locked up several times on DOA3 and is now constantly doing in on Halo. I haven't had any trouble with Madden.

I'm wondering if its the system or the game disks?

Anyone know if there have been any reported issues of either?

Thanks.

Yes I have. work @ compusa pt (now now dont hang me) and when our demo unit arrived, it had that problem. at first it only locked up infrequent, then all the time. called ms they said use a cd rom cleaner first and if that doenst work send it back.
tried the cleaner disk, but the problems came back, sent it back and got another one. works great. you might have to take it back and swap for new one.

Hmmmm, where to you keep your XBox? Is it a well ventilated area? It's not on carpet, is it?'

Also, please describe the glitches you're having in the games.

Carpet has nothing to do with it. I keep mine on Carpet out in the open because it's well ventilated. I haven't had a problem.

It's not like there are vents on the bottom.

Probably just a bad one. I would swap it out now while the warranty is good.

Not saying that carpet is the root of evil, but it can lead to a lot more dust and random buildup inside of a system. It also can give less ventilation around a system. This would also depend on what kind of carpet that you have. If you have something like a floor mat, you can put it underneath and that usually helps.

My XBox locked up for the first time last night. It hasn't since. Sounds like you just got a bad one. This is assuming that you don't handle your games like crap, which even then I doubt that would cause lock ups. Return it and get a new one and you'll be fine.
