Short and sweet response. BUNDLES SUCK! Even if I want 3 games I don't want to be FORCED to buy them. Plus, Sony is pushing a racer with EVERY system right? What if you don't like racers?

I will play devils advocate here for a moment. Retailers make about $1.50 on each system they sell.

The real money is in the accessories and some money in the games. Knowing how hard these systems will be to get in the days before Christmas I can't really blame them for wanting to maximize their profit while they can. After Christmas when everyone has the systems in stock they will probably start selling them seperately, in the mean time they will take advantage of the consumer. However, forcing you to buy an extended warranty is just plain wrong and evil.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I really didn't have a problem with the bundle, because I was going to buy an extra controller and 2 games for my Xbox anyway. Should it be "required"? Well, honestly, no, BUT if that's what the company wants, then that's what they are going to get. Gaming systems are loss leaders to begin with, and the companies are doing this based on market analysis and such. So you had to buy a game to get the system- so what? Were you going to just buy the system with no game and just look at it sitting there while it collects dust?

DChad, I love how EB was referred to as a "second rate company". I have a particular dislike for them as an ex-employee, but I wouldn't mind seeing some facts to back up your "second rate company" statement. If they are, then who would be a first rate company?

And once again, this thread proves that no matter what goes on, DVDTalk will have someone who bitches about it...
