I don't know - I just hear it every once in awhile. I heard it in the second mission I think. It's not the main theme from Predator, but it's part of the score. You would recognize it if you heard it and if you're as familiar with Predator as I am.

I think I heard it last night. The one I heard sounded somewhat similar. I might not have really noticed though, as I keep the music volume lower than default.

What is your favorite line from Predator? My friends and I used to make fun of different lines from the movie. Our favorite was "What's got Billy so spooked?". Funny stuff.

Oh god - yeah... really funny stuff... me and my friends used to quote this all the time. "Dillon! You sonofabitch! *smack*... Whatsamatta? Da Cee Ayee Eh got choo pushing too many pencils? Huh?" Those jokes that guy told are also a favorite to quote too. The Body had some good lines too... "Hey you're bleeding..." "I ain't got time to bleed." "You got time to duck?" I love that movie - they should make a good video game out of it... not AvsP which is more in the Aliens world than Predator. I'd like to be in a game that made Cambodia look like Kansas where your enemies were just those rebel soldiers mostly and every once in awhile your little platoon of special forces guys got picked off one by one by this unseen creature and as it grows darker and darker, you become more alone until you have to figure out a way to fight the beast with your wits because your weapons are useless against him! haha... seriously though it would be cool.

I'm a major Predator fan myself but I didn't notice any of its music in the game. There is a certain intense little passage that plays every so often that is kind of reminiscent, but not that close. The exciting tune that plays whenever the Nazis are on alert and hunting you is awesome though. It also sounds like James Horner's music from Aliens (used a lot in trailers these days).

BTW, the game is short. Under 7 hours the first time, and I was reloading to find secrets and take my time. Still, the candle burns brightly.

OK, I beat the single player game. I think it was very fun. A little short, but it had a good story.

Yesterday I tried multiplayer. It is damn fun. I haven't been hooked on a multiplayer game since Unreal Tournament. So far I have seen no bugs in about 5 hours of play. No cheating, no bugs, no crashing. I can't wait until they add some more multiplayer maps.

I played the multiplayer demo and I love it. One question, on the game version....how many multiplayer maps are available? Is it just the beach head or are there more maps on the game version?

I finally got a better chance of playing more of it. WOW. this game is amazing. the first few levels are pretty straight forward. after that they add a lot of elements to the levels and the A.I. is damn_tough.

There are 3 maps in the full version, with hopefully more on the way.

I have a strange question about this game. I recently bought a PC and this game along with it. I realize I've been out of the loop for a long time because the controls alone on RTCW are boggling me. The last time I played a PC game was Doom and that only used the arrow keys and space bar (with a little alt and shift in there.)

How do you personally use the control setup? Arrow Keys with mouse to point and shoot? That's the best I've found yet, but then it's hard to strafe and kick. Something else I'm missing?

I've been waiting to get better at the controls before playing too much, but what I've seen it great.

Thanks.

That was the Doom standard.

Now the standard control is W for forward, S for back, A to strafe left and D to strafe right. Then the various "use" keys and jump can be mapped to whatever you want, but that's the WSAD control scheme most FPS games use.

It took a little while, but I'm used to it now. The arrow keys work just the same, but you lose easy access to the rest of the keyboard if you do it that way.

Actually, I think there's seven:

Beach Invasion
Depot
Village
Das Boot
Communique
Assault
Castle

I haven't run a server, but those are the choices I have if I did.

I've only seen three on the server that I always play, so I thought that's all there was. I guess I'll have to try some other servers for veriety.

As for controls, I use the following:
Arrow keys: forward, reverse, strafe left, strafe right
Mouse look: on
Mouse button 1: Fire
Mouse button 2: zoom
Scroll wheel button: jump
Scroll wheel: change weapons
Rt Ctrl: crouch
Enter: use item/ open door

About controls... I was resistant to change as well... even when Quake 2 came out, I still never used my mouse. I would frag with the best of them though despite the handicap. Anyway - after playing Half-Life, my life changed (so to speak)... The WSAD key config is so perfect. I use it for all games now. It doesn't take that long to get used to either. I never touch the arrow keys anymore.

I always have this config:

W=forward
S=Back
A=strafe left
D=strafe right
E=Use
Space=Jump
LeftCtrl=Crouch (most games default C as Crouch)

As for special stuff - some games allow you to lean...
Q=lean left
F=lean right (or Flashlight depending on the game)
R=Reload
Z,X,C=Depends on the game, but Z and X are good for cycling through inventory items and C is good for a terciary use function not covered by the mouse buttons or the E key.
G=Kick in Wolfenstein for me. If you stick with this basic key config, it'll work for every FPS game out there and you won't have to spend time re-learning anything except when games have something like Binoculars or something (which I'll assign B or V). The mouse is important too - Left Click is always fire and Right click is weapon special or secondary function. If you have a wheel, make it cycle through weapons (most games do this anyway). If you have an Explorer USB or a mouse with more buttons you can configure the extra ones for something, but I've never gotten into that - never had a need to so far. This config seems to be the easiest to learn... most intuitive cuz I set it up like this and people who come over and play on my PCs can jump right into it even if they've never played a FPS before. Even my girlfriend was able to figure it out for the most part.

Wow. Thanks everyone for your set-ups. Looks like I should read more of the book. I didn't know you could customize the controls. I'll try some of these and see what works best.

Thanks!

Best buys around here bearly started stocking it. The price is not going to drop for a bit of time

I'm so glad I got the tin of it since I havn't seen any tins since I picked up mine.

the game is great. the A.I. and the Uber Soliders are wicked.

I wish there was more to it. hopefully they will make some more additions to it.

Multiplayer lacks with the factor of you have to have medics and sgt.s to depend on all your reload and health. I would like some classic death match style of battles in there where you can pick up the stuff from the dead and what not.

another factor is the air strikes.. argh. the pain

I am seriously considering picking this one up today, especially with the Best Buy preferred customer sale going on. Except I know that I need to study, and I am bad about just playing games for "a little bit," and then going back to studying. We'll see. Maybe I'll buy it and then just throw it in my locker at school until finals are over.

Fire bad!

Somebody posted on another site's "Hot Deals" forum that in tomorrow's Circuit City ad they have RTCW for $29.99. Hope it's true. I've been holding out for a reasonable price on this game, and it's been a long wait.

It's true. I bought it at Best Buy, $54.99, then took in the Circuit City ad, got the difference + 10% back!

Anyone finding this for $30 at Circuit City still? It's not even stocked in my area.

What's the price for Return to Wolfenstein at the other places: Best Buy? Fry's Electronics? Looking for the best price. thanks

Buy it at Best Buy (or some other place that price matches) and then just have them call circuit city and price match it for you giving you back the difference (+10% I think)
