Drove to my Best Buy near me just before noon today. I really didn't expect them to have any systems left, but they had probably 20-30 of them still sitting there. Looked like about 10 black ones left, and about 20 purple ones. Lots of controllers and games, & a few S-video cables left, but no component video cables to be found at any store I looked at. Looks like I might have to special-order them from Nintendo.

Too bad my tv doesn't have component input, I would love to see what that looks like.

Well, I just came from my hometown Wal-mart where there were three Gamecubes left as of 6:00 pm. So if anyone missed out there are three available at the Kinston, NC Wal-mart.
It was pretty hard to walk out of there without one. (The wife would've killed me.)

Well, everywhere I went this morning was sold out (Walmart/KMarts/Targets). Figured I'd just have to wait awhile before getting my GC. Wife told me I should goto Best Buy and check. I figured they wouldn't have any (it was 3:30 or so). Well we went and I asked the sales guy if they had any and he said YES. Got the black one and an extra black controller. Bought 2 games (Rogue Leader and Luigi) and saved $10. Not a huge discount, but something extra - helped pay for the memory card.
Now if I could only get a chance to play the crazy thing -- the kids are hogging it!!!!!!

I went to my local Wal-Mart last night and was 12 in line. They had fourty units coming in and if there weren't 40 people you could get as many consoles as you wanted. I picked up a purple and black one. This lady I got to know bought 4 units and her friend bought 6. All of which are going on Ebay. I was glad to get one so easliy. I drove by Best Buy on the way home at 1:00 and no line. But I'm sure they where sold out this mourning. They where getting 50. I could have picked up a X box just as easily on Thur. but opted not too. Haven't played the GC yet. But look forward to it.

I went by TRU at 7:30 saw only 4 people . Went shopping got some gas. Took home the groceries. Went back about 9. There were about 10 people. They ahd 248 gamecubes. But I waited anyway . They opened at 10 . I was out of there at 10:13. They still had a huge stack of Xboxes there also. I could have slept in but I had to host a party at 11:30 am.

i'll be laughing when all of these people who're saying "i'll buy several gamecubes, and just put them on ebay" don't even break even on the systems they bought
gamecubes seem to be pretty plentiful, so i don't know why anyone would pay tons for one on ebay.

I was waiting for another store to open this morning, so I spoke with the manager of TRU. He said there were about 10 people waiting in line for the Gamecube this morning, but he wouldn't tell me how many systems they got in.

I was first in line at Media Play. I arrived about 2 hours before opening. There were about 15 people in line when it opened for 32 units. The local Target also recieved about 32. Walmart about the same. Toys R Us had at least 80 or so. Most still had a few left by noon.
One rather funny note. . . The KMart locally was advertising the GameCube quite a bit. There was quite a line in the morning. When the doors opened the line was told to go to the electronics department and wait by the counter . . . which they did. After about ten minutes without any service, they asked what the hold-up was and were told that the GameCube merchandise was actually up by the service counter. They all RAN as fast as possible to the counter only to find that they had just sold the last one to somebody that just walked through the door. They only had FOUR to sell!

Thats why I bought mine at Wal-Mart. I can always take it back within 90 days for a full refund.

Got to Wal-Mart before midnight on Saturday night. Some people were already hanging out in the line, some with chairs and tents. Looks like a lost cause, since i got there late, so i went to another Wal-Mart. The second Wal-Mart will not give out GC untin 7am. No problem, I thought. Go back to sleep, wake up the next morning for a GC. Showed up the next morning at 7:15, lined up and got a ticket. I was 10th in line for 30 or so GCs. Picked the Jet one, paid for it, and I was on my way. No sweat. Played Rogue Squadron that i purchase earlier all day long.

My Wal-Mart had 64 Gamecubes in stock (32 black, 32 purple). I got there around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night. They gave out numbers for a line at 10:30 p.m. I ended up getting number 23. They told everybody to do what they wanted to do and get back in line around 11:45 p.m.
Well between then every controller and memory card at my Wal-Mart sold out.
At 11:45 p.m., we all got there to get in line. The manager had us all get in numerical order in two rows. The first row for 1-26, and the second row being 26-64. The manager said, "A person from each row will go pick up their Gamecube, so it'll be two at a time." So basically, one from the 1-26 line would go and one from the 26-64 line would go. So people who got there around 11:00-11:45 p.m. who got numbers in the 30's and higher would probably get a Gamecube before me. This infuriated a lot of people who drew around 20-26., as we were all at the back of my line. I don't know why they did this, and a lot of people were arguing about it.
All in all, I was like the 50th person to get a Gamecube and for some lucky reason (thank the Lord), I got the black one (the second to last black Gamecube). So screw Wal-Mart and thank you to all the females in line ahead of me who bought a purple Gamecube.

Just one quick comment, to all the people who said that the Cube sold not as well as the XBOX, just keep in mind that Nintendo had DOUBLE the amount of units.
(and many places even bundled Xbox, hiking the price up that much more). But I think when all is said and done, BOTH system launches are going down as a big hit. From really looking at both systems, I can honestly say no matter which one you ended up choosing, you will NOT be disappointed.
All in all a great time to love video games

Everyone is a winner right now. Even my friend that stuck with his PS2 is loving MGS2.

My sons and their friends were kind of looking forward to waiting all night for a GameCube. They took their Game Boy's and plenty of batteries to Wal-Mart at 7pm, planning on sitting in line for 5 hours (they went on sale at Midnight at our local Wal-Mart.) Well, they were the first ones there, and figured they would be the only ones for quite a while. So they left and bummed around town, checking back every hour or so. Finally, at 10pm people started showing up to wait in line. They ended up being 3rd in line for a total of 10 GameCubes.
I guess there's not much of a fervor over it here in rural Minnesota!

Here in rural Missouri we had it pretty easy...My Wal-Mart had 65 units and I arrived at Midnight and got #32. There was only one other person behind me. I got a Black Unit, a couple of games and a Memory Card...There are some advantages to living in a small town. I could have gotten it Sunday Morning, but I WANTED to PLAY with it ALL NIGHT
