When are you buying a next gen system??

Im going to get gamecube around the time it comes out. There was plenty of games on the N64 that i loved and i am hoping nintendo will come through again. If sony drops there price a little, Ill get a ps2 next, maybe a couple more months down the line. If x-box shows lots of promise i will have to pick one of those up, but I dont see it being in the budget anywhere in the near future.

I'm picking up a GameCube on launch if I can. Nintendo have never failed with a system before (at least not totally), and the GC shows alot of promise, if they could only give up the kiddy image.

I am definitely getting a PS2 when the price drops. I'm leaning toward a Game Cube, but I may wait for 2002. I'm have no plans to get an Xbox. I still have several Dreamcast games I haven't finished so I'm going to probably wait until November to even get the PS2.

I'm really digging Madden 2002 and NBA Street on the PS2 these days...but Sony just won't lower the damn price (maybe after this XMAS). So I may just resort to a Cube which will have most of the PS2 games I want plus the classis Nintendo first-party titles I need.
X-Box? No thank you. And the price isn't the first reason why.

I just preordered a gamecube. I grew up on Nintendo, and loved my Nes and Snes. When the N64 came around, my roommate had a PS, so I just played around with that. It had some cool games (I don't think I finished any of them though...) but now I'm really bummed I missed out on some of the N64 gems like the Zeldas.
I'm not going to let that happen this time though. I don't care if the gamecube does eventually die at the hands of the Xbox. I'll still have Metroid and Zelda (I actually like the new zelda!) so I'll be happy.

I plan on getting a Gamecube at launch. I don't have the time or money to invest in multiple systems anymore, and GC's game line-up appeals to me the most out of the next gen systems. I'll sell my DC and PSX in the next couple of months, and pick-up the GC and probably Rogue Leader and Luigi's Mansion on launch day.

Does anyone sure that PS2 is going to drop in prices? Granted that it's got a lot of games, in pure hardware term, PS2 lacks way behind X-Box.
I think X-Box uses 700+MHz processor whereas PS2 uses 300MHz. I think X-Box also comes with 4USB, 8GB HD (no need for memory card), ethernet card for cable/dsl connection, possibly Dolby digital sound, HDTV connector (1900 x 1080 resolution), faster graphics, and so on.
Granted I hate Microsoft, in terms pure hardware power X-box is way ahead of PS2. So I'm really really hoping Sony drops their price to $199 so I can pick it up. If not, at both systems being at $299, I'll go for X-Box.
I do wonder how many parents are willing to spend another $299+ for the x-box systems when they already have PS2.... Hmm.... Well, at least we don't have to upgrade console OS every couple of years...
Good gaming!

I'll wait to see what games will be released and then I may buy an X-Box or maybe Gamecube.
I had a NES, SNES and Game Boy (classic one) and then I got my PC and stopped playing console games. I almost bought a N64 because of the great games like Mario Kart (this game ruled on the SNES and is even better on the N64) and the graphics were decent (a bit blurry when you are used to a sharp monitor and a PC but much better than the Pixel-PSX). Of course I will continue to play to PC games (multiplayer games like Unreal Tournament and Diablo 2 are fun!!!)
I hope that the GameCube and the X-Box will survive. My childhood memories are with Nintendo... And I hope that finally a US company can make it into the console world (I live in Canada but I still get more benefits when I send my money to the US than to Japan). I think that Nintendo will survive pretty well (GameBoy Advanced is selling well and I don't expect the GameCube to be another VirtualBoy) and Microsoft... Well it's Microsoft, they have the money and won't stop until they are number 1 (but you already know that?). They have the hardware to compete and the game designers know how to use it efficently (classic optimized by compilators x86 intel processor if I am not mistaken and an advanced top quality nVidia video card)

I already have a PS2. As for the other systems, I adopting a wait and see strategy. I bought the N64 at launch and was disappointed with it. I ended up buying a Playstation soon after and using that a lot more.

I am probably leaning towards the GameCube at launch....Nintendo has never done me wrong.
I believe the N64 wasnt that great of a system...Problem was it was hard for developers to make games for. PS was easy as pie...So more studios produced games for PS and kinda held off on N64.
Now its the flipside. PS2 is supposedy hard to develop for and GameCube and X-Box were made with the developer in mind. I am hoping that Nintendo has a lot of games without Mario though. I always liked playing Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, but I can only stand cartoon players so much anymore.
This had a lot to do with the limitations of the N64 console and its cartridges.

Already have.....
I'm playing a copy of Final Fantasy X from Japan, and loving every minute if it!
This game has some of the prettiest FMV's I've EVER seen!
