I saw a thread a while back about Sony making a PS3--I can't remeber if it was just a wishful rumor or if it was real. Was it real??

Yeah they are working on it but don't expect anything to surface for at least 6 years

I think 6 years is overestimating. The Playstation only had a 5 year run, and it had virtually no competition. My prediction is the unveiling of the PS3 at E3 2004, maybe sooner.

That sounds about right. The life span of consoles seem to getting shorter and shorter as more companies vie for a piece of the pie and to use what advantage they can get.

According to one of the top notch sales people at EB, the PS3 "will be out next year to compete with the XBox".

Consider the source

I don't know about you, but those EB sales people are the only place I get my news!

As I said, consider the source. The person he was telling though seemed wide eyed enough!

Personally, I hope Sony dies at the hands of Microsoft and/or Nintendo.. maybe then we'll get some video games back in the gaming world.

I'm personally torn. Like most geeks, I despise Microsoft, but the PS2 launch was a farce. I just hope Nintendo manages to regain some market share.

_I_ hope all next gen systems die out except the GBA and the Ogre Battle sidestory is so successful that they consider creating a Final Fantasy Tactics sequel. And then the Sega Saturn will be revived and someone will port Shining Force III in its entirety over to the US.

I want a pony too.

Yeah, the PS2 had a weak launch line up, but all the good games are starting to surface. Microsoft better get its act together if it wants some of Sony's and Nintendo's pie, becuz from the looks of E3, Microsoft had the weakest show.

There's a one-page article on it in WIRED. It lists the specs but I'm too lazy to go get my copy off the shelf and type it out for you
I'll tell you one thing: it's DECKED OUT

Are you guys talking about this article? It's hardly a product announcement.
