Can anybody tell me the cheapest and fastest place to get a Mod Chip from? I dont think you can buy any at Media Play or Best Buy so probley some where online.

I have a Visa and can send a Money Order or us PayPal but dont know were to find one. I have a friend were I can download about 50-70 games off of his ISP he has like 5-80 PS2 games, and he gets uneleased games to he works for sony as a beta tester he already has GT 3 its awsome I can't wait till the official release comes out.

Well if anybody can help me find a Mod Chip that I can plug into my PS2 to play Burned Games off the Internet and Import games from Japan with please email me at [email protected] if you have one for sell or trade I will buy it or trade you PS2 games or DVDs for one.

Well, i'm not saying i Condon any of these actions, But for the most part. i would hold off on getting a chip for your PS2. right now they are still in the process of coming up with the Perfect chip for it. Unless you want to do a lot of sodering chips on and off when the newest one comes out, then hold off. For the most part, if you didn't know the main thing about the chips right now are that you have to tweak out the Disc feeder. so that it opens up while mid spinning the disc. so you can swap the disc. Not the best and of course will pretty much destroy any manufactor warrenty you have. And as i remember from the first PSX's, they had glitches that were found later on down the road which really made it a pain since you had to send it back.... and if you tweak with it.. I would not personally mess with it.

Also along the lines of burning, it is my understanding that most of the games are either based on DVD disc for room. so you can only really burn those that do not require that much room. (i.e. Street fighter EX and other fighting games) but for RPG's and other games which will require that extra room, it is not even going to work to burn them. well thats just what i think. I say you wait a bit intill a more practical and well tested Mod chip comes out. besides. theres not much out there to burn anyways with the titles they have going for them right now.

i hear that chip that plugs into the usb port and has one soldered wire is very unstable and doesn't support all import games. take that for what it's worth.

deftones is right - I was looking into this and the reviews aren't good. I've ordered from chipzone.com before and had no problems. I don't think there is a PS2 mod yet that reliably plays every game. I'd hold out.

Isn't Sony supposed to be taking measures to make sure todays game sharks and mod chips won't work on the PS2 in the near future? I thought they were constantly changing the PS2 to cause problems for these devices.

That's where I got my mod chips for PS1. They were of good quality, and the directions for install were top notch. As an added benefit, I purchased my first mod chip long before the stealth chips were needed, but I never had a game detect it.
