Jackass on MTV

This seems to be the type of show that everybody says is stupid, yet everybody watches it (The "Beavis and Butthead effect"). So honostly, how many of you love this show? I know I do. I watch it every time it's on. You have to admit, it's hilarious.

BTW: Is tonight's episode a new one?

Alyoshka 04-08-01 09:05 PM

It is pretty funny! Does anybody notice its resembalence to Buzzkill? I think it's awfully similiar.

BoatDrinks 04-08-01 09:32 PM

I tried to watch it twice. I just don't laugh at stupid people.

Jeraden 04-08-01 09:39 PM

It's a great show, but seems everytime I go to watch it its the same episodes. How often do they come out with new ones?

caiman 04-08-01 10:08 PM

I just watched the ones tonight. I don't know if they are new are not, but I hadn't seen them before.

Sunday's at 9pm central time and just for the record I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Applejack 04-08-01 10:58 PM

I too am a huge fan.

Did anyone see where in Entertainment Weekly they talked about some kid's family suing because he set himself on fire or something and thinks it is their fault?

What a moron, they even had the kid saying how he thought it was Jackass' fault because he is just a dumb kid and they are adults on the show. I guess he is just too ignorant to read the huge disclaimer at the beginning of the show.

i thought that stupid people were the most fun to laugh at?? :)

SnoopDogg 04-08-01 11:19 PM

Yes. I watch it, and I laugh so hard. Puking is never so funny.

badger1997 04-09-01 12:39 AM

I tried watching it a few times and just didn't see what was so great about it. Didn't even laugh once.

TheBang 04-09-01 05:53 AM

My girlfriend and I think it is hilarious. I wish they didn't pixellate out people's faces anymore though. Part of the fun is seeing passersby's expressions on their faces.

Film_Lover 04-09-01 10:52 AM

Yeah, I have to admit the show has its moments...its funny in that "this is so stupid" kind of way. I always enjoy the more voyeristic aspects a la the Tom Green Show though, going out into public and making people uncomfortable! That is what kills me! The Chinese Restaurant scene for example...I nearly died! "This is beans. You eat. Beans good for you." when the stuff on their plate what dog doo off of the street! Classic!

nazz 04-09-01 01:13 PM

My wife and I watch every week and laugh until we have tears
in our eyes. Way funnier than Tom Green could ever hope to be. BTW....Phil must be the coolest Dad in the world to take all the abuse he does and laugh.

Kaiser Soze 04-09-01 04:56 PM

I love the show too. All of those guys on the show did old skateboard/prank videos before the current show. It just seems that everything they do seems to stay fresh. It's too bad that the show is on MTV because there is still quite a bit of material that they can't/don't show. If anyone ever has a chance to check out some of their older skateboard/prank videos do so! You will not be disappointed.

goatboy 04-10-01 04:45 AM

The show is like a car wreck...I can't help but watch. I tend to find stupid people doing stupid stuff...pretty doggone funny.:D:D

Then you haven't seen the "Mullet" episode. Chit is funny man.

Love the show.

Actually, that is one of the few I have seen while flipping around. Is this what our society has come to that this kind of stuff is considered humor? I love sophmoric humor, but this kind of stuff makes Dumb and Dumber and Beavis and Butthead look downright smart. I weep for the future.

Did you see the one where they dug the hole in the yard, covered it up and the Phil was mowing the yard and fell in it? Oh man... I was hurting after laughing at that one.

It is close to the same. I think Jackass is the funniest show on TV, however Buzzkill was better. I don't like the personal injury stuff jackass does as well as the practical jokes, if you want to call them that. The best was when a guy would set a car seat for a baby on top of his car, put some groceries in the car, then get in and take off...watching the people run after him and their look of shock...priceless. I also thought the lawnmower in the hole was funny as well as the race that followed.

nizzo 04-25-01 02:38 PM

Man, I love that show.

badger1997 04-25-01 06:38 PM

Nope. Saw it once and won't waste my time with it.

BoatDrinks 04-25-01 07:55 PM

Once again, I concur with Badger.

If you're entertained by this type of thing, you need to take a serious look at yourself, IMHO.

kevin75 04-25-01 09:20 PM

while a very funny show, the title of best belongs to the west wing.

Jackskeleton 04-25-01 09:55 PM

If wanted to see dumb asses do stupid stunts, i would throw on a "best of backyard wrestling" tape in and watch them kill each other rather lame.

Trelach24 04-25-01 11:29 PM

Jackass has to be the best show on TV! And for all those dumb kids who keep getting injured trying to imitate it I have four words---DARWINISM AT ITS FINEST.

I think I said almost that exact same statement to a friend yesterday!

cineman 04-26-01 08:29 AM

This show is the best argument for abortion I've ever seen.
A lot less idiots in the world would be an extremely good thing.

I don't watch it but I do think it's great to have around for the reason you stated. One of the dumbass kids who tried to imitate a stunt said he "kind of blamed the show" for his injuries. I just wish the parents of one of these kids would say "well, I hate to see him in pain but he's always been an idiot, maybe this will teach him a lesson!" This reminds me of when I was a kid and Superman the movie was popular. Some idiot child tried to fly out of a 10 story window and died. I was only 7 at the time but I didn't need anyone to tell me that you can't f'in fly!!!

First of all, I hate Jackass, I think it's moronic and panders to the basest instinct. Take it off the air.... but Superman is another story..... I mean, how old was this kid that tried to fly? When I saw Superman, I was only around 8 and me and my friends would tie towels around our necks, pretend they were capes and fly around the room. I wouldn't have jumped out of a 10-storey window but that's 'cuz I was scared of heights. What I mean is, kids don't know the difference between reality and TV like adults do..... it should be the adult's job to make sure the kid doesn't do something stupid. I'm assuming, of course, that the kid was around 7 or something. If he was a teenager, then yes, he wasn't exactly smart...

mljones99 04-26-01 11:49 AM

i love the show, but more for the pranks than the stunts. Like last week when Stevo went "bobbing for jellyfish"... that was just dumb.

Yes, yes it was. :)

Original Desmond 05-16-01 01:33 PM

what is the deal with jackass ?

what is it ?

El Scorcho 05-16-01 01:33 PM

Stupid people doing stupid things. And it's hilarious!

nizzo 05-16-01 01:35 PM

It's about the best show on TV!

renaldow 05-16-01 01:37 PM

Johnny Knoxville videos used to be passed around the web way before the show ever came on to TV, so you still might find some if you don't get the show where you're at.

Basically, people doing stupid/dangerous things, getting hurt on purpose, goofy stunts, etc.. For example, here's what happened in a video I'd downloaded a couple years ago of JK:

He gets maced to see what happens
He gets tazered to see what happens
He shoots himself (while wearing a bullet proof vest) point blank with a 9mm to see what happens

Dubya 05-16-01 01:37 PM

I don't watch the show but it's great to have around because stupid kids mimic stunts and badly injure themselves. As a fellow dvdtalk member said it's "Darwinism at it's finest!"

Geofferson 05-16-01 01:39 PM

A friend of mine thinks this is the best show on TV. I have yet to see it, but I am trying to remember. I always find myself engulfed in a movie on Sunday nights though...
